Decree No. 016/SL Regarding the Establishment of the State Science Committee under the Council of Ministers

DECREE-LAW

OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL NO. 016/SL DATED MARCH 4, 1959

PRESIDENT OF THE VIETNAMESE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC

WHEREAS the National Assembly of the Vietnamese Democratic Republic at its eighth session has adopted a resolution;

WHEREAS the Council of Ministers on December 4, 1958, has adopted a resolution;

NOW THEREFORE DECREES:

Article 1

The State Science Committee under the Council of Ministers is hereby established and shall have powers and responsibilities equivalent to those of a Ministry.

Article 2

The State Science Committee shall be responsible for assisting the Government in building and leading scientific work in all aspects, aiming to serve the construction of socialism in the northern region, contributing to increasing labor productivity, improving the material and cultural life of the people, serving the cause of national reunification, and promoting peace and friendship among nations.

Article 3

The State Science Committee shall consist of a Chairman, several Deputy Chairmen,

a Secretary-General, and several members.

Article 4

Specific tasks and organizational structure of the State Science Committee shall be prescribed by the Prime Minister.

Article 5

The Prime Minister shall implement this Decree-Law in accordance with its provisions.
