DECREE

Regarding the adjustment of the administrative boundaries of Muong Lay District and Lai Chau City, Dien Bien Province

and the township of Lai Chau, Dien Bien province

 THE GOVERNMENT

Pursuant to the Law on Organization of the Government dated December 25, 2001;

Pursuant to Resolution No. 22/2003/QH11 dated November 26, 2003 of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Session XI, Fourth Meeting on the division and adjustment of administrative boundaries of some provinces;

Considering the proposal of the Minister of Home Affairs and the Chairman of the People's Committee of Lai Chau Province (former);

 

DECREE:

Article 1. Now, the administrative boundaries of Muong Lay District and Lai Chau City, Dien Bien Province are adjusted as follows:

After the adjustment of administrative boundaries, Le Loi Ward of Lai Chau City, Pu Dao and Chan Nua Communes of Muong Lay District, and Thanh Chu Village with 813 hectares of natural area and 328 population of Xa Tong Commune of Muong Lay District shall be transferred to Lai Chau Province:

Muong Lay District retains 182,552 hectares of natural area and 42,864 population, comprising 11 administrative units including Xa Tong, Lay Nua, Muong Tung, Pa Ham, Cha Nua, Si Pa Phin, Cha To, Huu Ngai, Hou Leng, Muong Mun Communes and Muong Lay Town.

Xa Tong Commune of Muong Lay District retains 11,119 hectares of natural area and 3,552 population.

Lai Chau City retains 5,236 hectares of natural area and 9,279 population, comprising two administrative units including Na Lay and Song Da Wards.

Dien Bien Province has 955,409.70 hectares of natural area and 440,300 population, comprising eight administrative units including Muong Nhe, Muong Lay, Dien Bien, Dien Bien Dong, Tuan Giao, Tua Chua Districts, Lai Chau City and Dien Bien Phu City.

Article 2. This Decree shall take effect fifteen days after its publication in the Official Gazette. All previous provisions contrary to this Decree are hereby abolished.

Article 3. The Chairman of the Interim People's Committee of Dien Bien Province, the Minister of Home Affairs and the Heads of relevant agencies are responsible for implementing this Decree.
