DECREE
Regarding the adjustment of administrative boundaries for some communes under Châu Thành and Châu Thành A districts directly under Hậu Giang province
THE GOVERNMENT
Pursuant to the Law on Organization of the Government dated December 25, 2001;
Pursuant to Resolution No. 22/2003/QH11 dated November 26, 2003 of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the 11th session, fourth meeting on the division and adjustment of administrative boundaries for some provinces;
Considering the proposal of the Minister of Home Affairs and the Chairman of the People's Committee of Cần Thơ city (former),
DECREE
Article 1. Now, the administrative boundaries of communes under Châu Thành and Châu Thành A districts directly under Hậu Giang province are adjusted as follows:
1. District of Châu Thành:
a. Commune Đông Thạnh, after adjusting part of its natural area and population to the new Cần Thơ city, has 1,181.71 hectares of natural area and 9,153 inhabitants.
Administrative boundary: East borders commune Phú An; West and South border commune Tân Phú Thạnh; North borders the new Cần Thơ city.
b. Commune Phú An, after adjusting part of its natural area and population to the new Cần Thơ city, has 814.94 hectares of natural area and 4,116 inhabitants.
Administrative boundary: East borders commune Đông Phú; West borders commune Đông Thạnh; South borders commune Đông Phước A and market town Ngã Sáu; North borders the new Cần Thơ city.
c. Commune Đông Phú, after adjusting part of its natural area and population to the new Cần Thơ city, has 1,775.98 hectares of natural area and 9,136 inhabitants.
Administrative boundary: East borders commune Phú Hữu A; West borders commune Phú An; South borders commune Phú Hữu and market town Ngã Sáu; North borders the new Cần Thơ city and Vĩnh Long province.
After adjusting administrative boundaries, District of Châu Thành has 14,578.91 hectares of natural area and 81,194 inhabitants, including 8 subordinate administrative units: market town Ngã Sáu, communes Đông Phú, Phú Hữu A, Phú Hữu, Phú An, Đông Thạnh, Đông Phước, and Đông Phước A.

Administrative boundary: East borders District of Châu Thành; West borders commune Thạnh Xuân; South borders District of Phụng Hiệp; North borders the new Cần Thơ city.
After adjusting administrative boundaries, District of Châu Thành A has 15,319.45 hectares of natural area and 98,805 inhabitants, including 8 subordinate administrative units: market town Một Ngàn, communes Trường Long Tây, Nhơn Nghĩa A, Trường Long A, Thạnh Xuân, Tân Thuận, Tân Hòa, and Tân Phú Thạnh.
Administrative boundary: East borders Districts of Châu Thành and Phụng Hiệp; West borders Kiên Giang province; South borders Districts of Phụng Hiệp and Vị Thủy; North borders the new Cần Thơ city.
Article 2. This Decree takes effect fifteen days from the date of publication in the Official Gazette. All previous regulations contrary to this Decree are repealed.
Article 3. The Chairman of the Interim People's Committee of Hậu Giang province, the Minister of Home Affairs, and the Ministers, Heads of Ministries, Departments, and related agencies are responsible for implementing this Decree./.
