Regarding the establishment of Long Xuyen city under An Giang province

THE GOVERNMENT

Pursuant to the Government Organization Law dated September 30, 1992;

BASED ON DECISION NO. 132/HĐBT DATED MAY 5, 1990 OF THE STATE COUNCIL (NOW THE GOVERNMENT) ON THE CLASSIFICATION AND MANAGEMENT LEVELS OF URBAN AREAS;

Considering the proposal of the Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province and the Minister, Head of the Organization-Cadres Department of the Government,

DECREE:

Article 1. Establish Long Xuyen city under An Giang province based on the entire area and population of Long Xuyen town.

Long Xuyen city has an area of 10,687 hectares and a population of 245,149, comprising ten grassroots administrative units including the wards: My Long, My Binh, My Xuyen, My Phuoc, and Binh Duc, and the communes: My Hoa, My Thoi, My Thanh, My Khanh, and My Hoa Hung.

Administrative boundaries of Long Xuyen city: East borders Cho Moi district and Lap Vo district (Dong Thap province); West borders Thoai Son district; South borders Thot Not district (Can Tho province); North borders Chau Thanh district.

Article 2. THIS DECREE SHALL TAKE EFFECT 15 DAYS AFTER ITS DATE OF ISSUANCE. ALL PRIOR PROVISIONS CONTRARY TO THIS DECREE SHALL BE ABROGATED.

Article 3. The Chairman of the People's Committee of An Gi ant province, the Minister, Head of the Organization-Cadres Department of the Government, and the Heads of relevant agencies are responsible for implementing this Decree.
