Regarding the adjustment of the administrative boundaries of Go Cong Dong District and Go Cong Tay District
to expand Go Cong Town and establish Tan Phu Dong District, Tien Giang Province

THE GOVERNMENT
Pursuant to the Law on Organization of the Government dated December 25, 2001;
Considering the proposal of the Minister of Interior and the Chairman of the People's Committee of Tien Giang Province,
DECREE:
Article 1. The adjustment of the administrative boundaries of Go Cong Tay District and Go Cong Dong District to expand Go Cong Town and establish Tan Phu Dong District, Tien Giang Province shall be as follows:
1. Adjusting the administrative boundaries of Go Cong Tay District and Go Cong Dong District to expand Go Cong Town:
Adjusting 6,410.28 hectares of natural area and 39,949 population from Go Cong Dong District (including the entire natural area and population of the communes: Binh Dong, Binh Xuan, and Tan Trung); 580.72 hectares of natural area and 2,238 population from Thanh Cong Commune of Go Cong Tay District under the management of Go Cong Town.
Adjusting 580.72 hectares of natural area and 2,238 population (the natural area and population of Thanh Cong Commune of Go Cong Tay District adjusted to Go Cong Town) under the management of Binh Xuan Commune of Go Cong Town.
Binh Xuan Commune has 2,786.41 hectares of natural area and 14,561 population.
Administrative boundary of Binh Xuan Commune: East borders Tan Trung Commune; West borders Binh Phu Commune; South borders Long Chanh Commune; North borders Binh Dong Commune.
Go Cong Town has 10,198.48 hectares of natural area and 97,709 population, with 12 subordinate administrative units, including wards: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and communes: Long Hoa, Long Thuan, Long Hung, Long Chanh, Tan Trung, Binh Dong, and Binh Xuan.
Administrative boundary of Go Cong Town: East borders Go Cong Dong District; West borders Go Cong Tay District; South borders Go Cong Tay District and Go Cong Dong District; North borders Long An Province.
2. Adjusting the administrative boundaries of Go Cong Tay District and Go Cong Dong District to establish Tan Phu Dong District in Tien Giang Province.
Establishing Tan Phu Dong District in Tien Giang Province based on adjusting 8,632.88 hectares of natural area and 33,296 population from Go Cong Tay District (including the entire natural area and population of the communes: Tan Thoi, Tan Phu, Phu Thanh, Tan Thanh); 11,575.43 hectares of natural area and 9,630 population from Go Cong Dong District (including the entire natural area and population of Phu Dong and Phu Tan communes).
Tan Phu Dong District has 20,208.31 hectares of natural area and 42,926 population, with 6 subordinate administrative units, including communes: Phu Dong, Phu Tan, Tan Thoi, Tan Phu, Tan Thanh, and Phu Thanh.
Administrative boundary of Tan Phu Dong District: East borders the East Sea; West borders Cho Gao District; South borders Ben Tre Province; North borders Cho Gao District, Go Cong Tay District, and Go Cong Dong District.
After adjusting the administrative boundaries and establishing Tan Phu Dong District:
Go Cong Dong District remains with 26,768.16 hectares of natural area and 143,418 population, with 13 subordinate administrative units, including communes: Vam Lang, Tan Dong, Tan Tay, Binh Nghi, Binh An, Phuc Trung, Gia Thuan, Kien Phuoc, Tan Phuoc, Tan Thanh, Tan Dien, Teng Hoa, and Tan Hoa Town.
Thanh Cong Commune remains with 810.52 hectares of natural area and 4,514 population.
Go Cong Tay District remains with 18,017.34 hectares of natural area and 134,768 population, with 13 subordinate administrative units, including communes: Yen Luong, Thanh Cong, Dong Son, Binh Phu, Long Vinh, Binh Nhi, Thanh Tri, Dong Thanh, Binh Tan, Thanh Nhut, Vinh Huu, Long Binh, and Vinh Binh Town.
Tien Giang Province has 248,177.21 hectares of natural area and 1,707,432 population, with 10 subordinate administrative units, including districts: Cai Be, Cai Lay, Chau Thanh, Tan Phuoc, Cho Gao, Go Cong Tay, Go Cong Dong, Tan Phu Dong, Go Cong Town, and My Tho City.
Article 2. This Decree takes effect 15 days after its publication in the Official Gazette. All previous regulations contrary to this Decree are abolished.
Article 3. The Minister of Home Affairs, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Tien Giang Province, and the Heads of relevant agencies are responsible for implementing this Decree./.
