DECREE

Regarding the establishment of Ngoc Nam district under Soc Trang province

GOVERNMENT

Pursuant to the Law on Organization of the Government dated December 25, 2001;

Considering the proposal of the Minister of Home Affairs and the Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province,

DECREE: 

Article 1. The administrative boundaries of Thanh Tri district are hereby adjusted to establish Ngoc Nam district, Soc Trang province as follows:

Ngoc Nam district is established based on 24,196.81 hectares of natural area and 77,056 population from Thanh Tri district.

Ngoc Nam district has 24,196.81 hectares of natural area and 77,056 population, including 8 direct administrative units consisting of communes Tan Long, Long Binh, My Giao, My Binh, Long Tan, Vinh Giao, Vinh Bien, and the town Ngoc Nam.

Administrative boundaries of Ngoc Nam district: East borders districts My Tu and Thanh Tri; West and South border Bac Lieu province; North border Can Tho province.

After adjusting the administrative boundaries to establish Ngoc Nam district, Thanh Tri district retains 28,817.42 hectares of natural area and 84,444 population, including 9 direct administrative units consisting of communes Thanh Tri, Thanh Tan, Lam Ket, Lam Tan, Tuan Tuc, Chau Hung, Vinh Loi, Vinh Thanh, and the town Phu Loc.

Article 2. This Decree shall take effect fifteen days after its publication in the Official Gazette. All previous provisions contrary to this Decree are hereby abolished.

Article 3. The Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province, the Minister of Home Affairs, and the heads of relevant agencies are responsible for implementing this Decree.
