Pursuant to the Law on Organization of the Government dated December 25, 2001;

Based on the Ordinance on the Vietnam Coast Guard dated January 26, 2008;

At the proposal of the Minister of National Defense,

At the proposal of amends and supplements Article 9 of Decree No. 86/2009/NĐ-CP dated October 19, 2009 of the Government detailing and guiding the implementation of certain provisions of the Ordinance on the Coast Guard Force of Vietnam.

Article 1. Amending and supplementing Article 9 of Decree No. 86/2009/NĐ-CP dated October 19, 2009 of the Government detailing and guiding the implementation of certain provisions of the Ordinance on the Coast Guard Force of Vietnam

1. Clause 2 of Article 9 shall be amended and supplemented as follows:

"2. Markings

The markings of various types of patrol vessels and boats of the Vietnam Coast Guard are displayed as follows:

Three continuous stripes along both sides of the vessel's hull above the waterline. Stripe number 1, which is orange, is placed at the end of the vessel's bow, inclined at 30° to 40° from the centerline of the vessel, with the center of stripe number 1 affixed with the Vietnam Coast Guard emblem. Following this, stripe number 2 is white, and stripe number 3 is blue. The width of stripe number 1 varies according to the size of each type of vessel; the widths of stripes number 2 and 3 are one quarter that of stripe number 1. The length of each stripe is equal to the height of the vessel's hull above the waterline."

2. Clause 3 of Article 9 shall be amended and supplemented as follows:

"3. Color of vessels and boats of the Vietnam Coast Guard
The hull of the ship is painted orange, while the deck is painted green. In front of the marking stripe, the ship's serial number is painted white, and behind the marking stripe, the phrase "VIETNAM COAST GUARD" in uppercase letters, color white.

The hull of the vessel is painted orange, and the deck is painted green. In front of the marking stripe, the vessel's identification number is painted white, and behind the marking stripe, the phrase VIETNAM COAST GUARD in uppercase letters, colored white.

On the smokestack, there is a red flag with a golden star painted.

The gun platform is painted gray.

The hull of the boat is painted white. In front of the marking stripe, the boat's serial number is painted navy blue. Behind the marking stripe, the top line reads "VIETNAM COAST GUARD" in uppercase letters, color navy blue, and the bottom line reads "VIETNAM COAST GUARD" in uppercase letters, color navy blue.

The hull of the boat is painted white. In front of the marking stripe, the boat's identification number is painted navy blue, and behind the marking stripe, the top line reads CẢNH SÁT BIỂN VIỆT NAM, and the bottom line reads VIETNAM COAST GUARD in uppercase letters, colored navy blue.

The cabin is painted white."

3. Clause 3a shall be added after Clause 3 of Article 9 as follows:

"3a. The Commander of the Coast Guard shall specify the dimensions of stripe number 1, the Vietnam Coast Guard emblem, the phrase CẢNH SÁT BIỂN VIỆT NAM, VIETNAM COAST GUARD, and the red flag with a yellow star on the smokestack, appropriate for each type of patrol vessel and boat of the Vietnam Coast Guard."

Article 2. Effective Date

This Decree takes effect from March 31, 2015.

Article 3. Responsibility for Implementation

Ministers, Heads of ministerial-level agencies, Heads of agencies under the Government, Chairpersons of People's Committees of provinces and centrally governed cities, and the Commander of the Coast Guard are responsible for implementing this Decree./.
