DECREE OF THE GOVERNMENT
Regarding the establishment of Tay Tra district; expansion of townships, establishment of communes
and renaming of communes under Binh Son, Ly Son districts, Quang Ngai province

THE GOVERNMENT
Pursuant to the Law on Organization of the Government dated December 25, 2001;
Considering the proposal of the Minister of Interior and the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province,
DECREE:
Article 1. The administrative boundaries of Tra Bong district are hereby adjusted to establish Tay Tra district; expand Chau O township under Binh Son district, establish commune and rename communes under Ly Son district, Quang Ngai province as follows:
1. Establish Tay Tra district based on 33,680 hectares of natural area and 16,750 population from Tra Bong district.
Tay Tra district has 33,680 hectares of natural area and 16,750 population; it includes 9 administrative units, namely Traphong, Traquan, Trakhê, Tratho, Traxinh, Tralanh, Tranham, Tratruong, and Trathanh communes.
Administrative boundaries of Tay Tra district: East borders Tra Bong district; West borders Quang Nam province; South borders Son Tay and Son Ha districts; North borders Quang Nam province.
After adjusting the administrative boundaries to establish Tay Tra district, Tra Bong district retains 41,875 hectares of natural area and 28,336 population; it includes 10 administrative units, namely Tralam, Trathuy, Trahiep, Trabui, Tratan, Trason, Tragiang, Traphu, Trabinh communes, and Traxuan township.
2. Adjust 52.37 hectares of natural area and 1,041 population from Binh Trung commune, 20.43 hectares of natural area and 502 population from Binh Thoi commune to Chau O township under Binh Son district management.
Chau O township has 235.80 hectares of natural area and 8,732 population.
Administrative boundaries of Chau O township: East borders Binh Thoi commune; West borders Binh Trung and Binh Long communes; South borders Binh Long commune; North borders Binh Trung commune.
After adjusting the administrative boundaries to expand the township:
- Binh Trung commune retains 1,481.63 hectares of natural area and 9,128 population.
- Binh Thoi commune retains 550.57 hectares of natural area and 3,943 population.
3. Establish An Binh commune under Ly Son district based on 69 hectares of natural area and 398 population from Ly Vinh commune.
Administrative boundaries of An Binh commune: East; West; South; North border the East Sea.
After adjusting the administrative boundaries to establish An Binh commune, Ly Vinh commune retains 419 hectares of natural area and 11,059 population.
Rename Ly Vinh commune to An Vinh commune.
4. Rename Ly Hai commune under Ly Son district to An Hai commune.
Article 2. This Decree shall take effect fifteen days after its publication in the Official Gazette. All previous provisions contrary to this Decree are hereby abolished.
Article 3. The Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province, the Minister of Interior, and the heads of relevant agencies are responsible for implementing this Decree./.
