Regarding the establishment of Soc Comm District and adjustment of administrative boundaries of Thuong Chau, Quynh Nhai districts, Son La province

the districts of Thuận Châu, Quỳnh Nhai, province of Sơn La

THE GOVERNMENT

Pursuant to the Law on Organization of the Government dated December 25, 2001;

Considering the proposal of the Minister of Interior and the Chairman of the People's Committee of Son La Province,

DECREE:

Article 1. Now, the administrative boundary of Song Ma district is adjusted to establish Soc Comm district, and the administrative boundaries of Thuong Chau, Quynh Nhai districts, Son La province are adjusted as follows:

1. Establishing Soc Comm district based on 146,841 hectares of natural area and 31,467 population from Song Ma district.

Soc Comm district has 146,841 hectares of natural area and 31,467 population; it includes 8 direct administrative units, namely Soc Comm commune, Muong Lan commune, Dom Cang commune, Sam Ka commune, Muong Va commune, Muong Leo commune, Pun Bang commune, and Nam Lanh commune.

Administrative boundary of Soc Comm district: East and South border Laos Democratic Republic; West borders Lai Chau province; North borders Song Ma district.

After adjusting the administrative boundary to establish Soc Comm district, Song Ma district retains 163,125 hectares of natural area and 109,849 population; it includes 19 direct administrative units, namely Muong Sai commune, Chien Cang commune, Chien Khoong commune, Chien So commune, Nam Man commune, Chien En commune, Muong Lam commune, Bo Sinh commune, Chien Phung commune, Chien Khuong commune, Muong Hung commune, Na Nghiu commune, Houi Mot commune, Yen Hung commune, Due Mon commune, Pu Bau commune, Muong Cai commune, Nam Ty commune, and Song Ma town.

2. Transferring 25,911 hectares of natural area and 26,659 population, including all communes Muong Giang, Chien Bang, Muong Sai, Liep Muoi, Nam Et, and Chien Khoang of Thuong Chau district to be managed by Quynh Nhai district.

After adjusting the administrative boundaries of Thuong Chau and Quynh Nhai districts:

- Quynh Nhai district has 104,907 hectares of natural area and 57,593 population, including 13 direct administrative units, namely Ca Nang commune, Chien Khay commune, Muong Gon commune, Muong Chien commune, Pac Ma commune, Pha Khinh commune, Chien On commune, Muong Giang commune, Chien Bang commune, Muong Sai commune, Liep Muoi commune, Nam Et commune, and Chien Khoang commune.

- Thuong Chau district retains 151,649 hectares of natural area and 125,520 population, including 29 direct administrative units, namely Ban Lam commune, Moui Noi commune, Bon Phang commune, Chien Pac commune, Tong Lang commune, Tong Co commune, Nong Lay commune, Chien Nam commune, Chien La commune, Bo Muoi commune, Muong Khieng commune, Liep Te commune, Chien Pa commune, Thom Mon commune, Pun Tra commune, Nam Lau commune, Chien Bom commune, Co Ma commune, Pa Long commune, Co Tong commune, E Tong commune, Long He commune, Muong Bam commune, Chien Ly commune, Phong Lang commune, Phong Lap commune, Phong Lai commune, Muong E commune, and Thuong Chau town.

Article 2. This Decree shall take effect fifteen days after its publication in the Official Gazette. All previous provisions contrary to this Decree are hereby abolished.

Article 3. The Chairman of the People's Committee of Son La Province, the Minister of Interior, and the heads of relevant agencies are responsible for implementing this Decree./.
