DECREE

Regarding the establishment of Dong Hoi City under Quang Binh Province

THE GOVERNMENT

Pursuant to the Law on Organization of the Government dated December 25, 2001;

Pursuant to Decree No. 72/2001/NĐ-CP dated October 5, 2001 of the Government on the classification of cities and urban management levels;

Considering the proposal of the Minister of Home Affairs and the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Binh Province,

DECREE:

Article 1. Establish Dong Hoi City under Quang Binh Province based on the entire natural area, population, and administrative units directly subordinate to Dong Hoi Town.

Dong Hoi City has an area of 15,554 hectares and a population of 130,636, comprising 16 directly subordinate administrative units including the wards: Nam Ly, Bac Ly, Dong Phu, Phu Hai, Dong Son, Dong My, Hai Dinh, Hai Thanh, Bac Nghia, Duc Ninh Dong, and the communes: Nghia Ninh, Duc Ninh, Bao Ninh, Loc Ninh, Thuan Duc, and Quang Phu.

The administrative boundary of Dong Hoi City: East borders the sea; West borders Bo Trach District and Quang Ninh District; South borders Quang Ninh District; North borders Bo Trach District.

Quang Binh Province has seven first-level administrative units including districts: Tuyen Hoa, Minh Hoa, Quang Trach, Bo Trach, Quang Ninh, Le Thuy, and Dong Hoi City.

Article 2. This Decree shall take effect fifteen days from the date of publication in the Official Gazette. All previous regulations contrary to this Decree are hereby abolished.

Article 3. The Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Binh Province, the Minister of Home Affairs, and the heads of relevant agencies are responsible for implementing this Decree./.
