DECISION OF THE PRIME MINISTER
Regarding the conversion of Bu Gia Map Nature Reserve to Bu Gia Map National Park in the province of Binh Phuoc
The Prime Minister hereby promulgates the following decision based on the proposal of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (Document No. 1675/BNN-KL dated June 24, 2002) and the proposal of the People's Committee of Binh Phuoc Province (Document No. 41/BC-UB dated September 4, 2002),
PRIME MINISTER
Pursuant to the Law on Organization of the Government dated December 25, 2001;
Based on the Law on Forest Protection and Development dated August 19, 1991;
Converting Bu Gia Map Nature Reserve in Binh Phuoc Province to a national park within the system of special-use forests in Vietnam, including the following contents:
DECISION:
Article 1. 1. Name: Bu Gia Map National Park.
2. Location, geographic coordinates, and area of the National Park:
Geographic location:
Bu Gia Map National Park is located in the northwest of Binh Phuoc Province, covering administrative areas of Dak O and Bu Gia Map communes, Phuoc Long district, Binh Phuoc Province.
To the west and northwest, it borders Dak Hy stream and the Vietnam-Cambodia border.
Boundaries:
To the east and northeast, it borders Dak Lak Province.
To the south, it borders a demarcation line (clearly defined on-site) between the forest area of Bu Gia Map National Park and agricultural and forestry land managed directly by the People's Committees of Dak O and Bu Gia Map communes and Dak O and Bu Gia Map Forestry Enterprises.

Where:
Buffer zone of Bu Gia Map National Park has an area of 15,200 hectares, including 7,200 hectares in Binh Phuoc Province and 8,000 hectares in Dak Lak Province.
3. Objectives and tasks of Bu Gia Map National Park:
Protecting rare genetic resources of flora and fauna, representative models of tropical evergreen-deciduous forest ecosystems on hills with altitudes below 1,000 meters, characteristic of the transition from the Central Highlands to the Southeastern Plain.
Protecting upstream protective forests for water reservoirs of Thac Mo and Can Don hydropower projects.
Serving scientific research, environmental education, and ecotourism development.
Building infrastructure to support conservation efforts, training, scientific research, environmental education, and ecotourism development, contributing to economic and social development, and creating employment opportunities for local communities.
Issues related to investment, construction, and development of Bu Gia Map National Park and ecotourism shall be implemented according to current State regulations.
The People's Committee of Binh Phuoc Province is assigned to manage Bu Gia Map National Park; directing the preparation and submission to competent authorities for approval of projects on investment, construction, and development of the park, buffer zone, and ecotourism development at Bu Gia Map National Park in accordance with current regulations.
Organizational structure of Bu Gia Map National Park:
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Phuoc Province is authorized to decide on the organizational structure of Bu Gia Map National Park in accordance with the Special-Use Forest Management Regulation, Protective Forest Management Regulation, and Natural Production Forest Management Regulation issued together with Decision No. 08/2001/QĐ-TTg dated January 11, 2001 of the Government, and the consensus of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Article 2. Ministers, Heads of ministerial-level agencies, and heads of government-affiliated agencies, and the Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Phuoc Province are responsible for implementing this Decision./.
Article 3. Organizational structure of Bu Gia Map National Park:
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Phuoc Province shall decide on the organizational structure and staffing of Bu Gia Map National Park in accordance with the provisions of the Regulation on Management of Special Purpose Forests, Protective Forests, and Naturally Produced Production Forests issued together with Decision No. 08/2001/QD-TTg dated January 11, 2001 of the Government, and the consensus of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Home Affairs. The Ministers, Heads of ministerial-level agencies, Heads of government-affiliated agencies, and the Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Phuoc Province are responsible for implementing this Decision./.
Article 4. This Decision takes effect fifteen days after the date of signature.
The Ministers, Heads of ministerial-level agencies, and Heads of government-affiliated agencies, and the Chairman of the People's Committee of Bình Phước Province shall be responsible for implementing this Decision./.
