DECREE

NUMBER 209/SL ON AUGUST 20, 1948

CHAIRMAN OF THE VIETNAM DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC GOVERNMENT

Pursuant to Decree dated May 3, 1946 organizing the Office of Ministries;

Pursuant to Decree No. 137 dated July 24, 1946 stipulating allowances for staff of the Office of Ministries;

At the proposal of the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Finance;

After the Government Council and the Standing Committee of the National Assembly reached an agreement;

ISSUES THE DECREE:

Article 1

Now, Decree No. 137-SL dated July 24, 1946 mentioned above is hereby repealed.

Article 2

Private individuals appointed to temporary positions in the Office of the Chairman of the Government and Ministries shall be entitled, from May 1, 1948, to a monthly basic allowance as follows:

Office of the Chairman of the Government:

- Director of the Office of the Chairman of the Government: 600 dong,

- Deputy Director: 550 -,

- Secretary of the Chairman of the Government: 500 -,

- Assistant Director: 450 -.

Office of Ministers:

- Director of the Office: 600 dong,

- Deputy Director: 550 -,

- Assistant Director: 500 -,

- Secretary of the Minister: 400 -,

- Assistant Director: 400 -.

Article 3

In addition to the basic allowance stipulated in Article 2, those who have families shall be entitled to an additional monthly allowance as follows:

- With a wife or one to three children to support: half of the basic allowance;

- With four or more children to support: three-quarters of the basic allowance.

Article 4

Civil servants in regular posts or temporarily appointed to hold the aforementioned office positions may, in addition to their salaries, be entitled to a position allowance to be determined later.

In cases where the total salary according to rank and grade plus other allowances exceeds the monthly allowance stipulated in Articles 2 and 3, the civil servant shall retain their original salary.

Article 5

The Ministers of the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Finance are hereby authorized to implement this Decree.
