Issuing the Vietnamese Economic Industry System

Pursuant to the Law on Government Organization dated June 19, 2015;

Pursuant to the Law on Statistics dated November 23, 2015;

At the proposal of the Minister of Planning and Investment;

The Prime Minister issues this Decision on the Vietnamese Economic Industry System.

Article 1. Scope of Regulation

This Decision stipulates in detail the Vietnamese Economic Industry System comprising the list (Annex I attached) and content (Annex II attached) to be uniformly used in state statistical activities.

Article 2. Applicability

The subjects to which this Decision applies are agencies, organizations, and individuals as prescribed by the Statistics Law 2015.

Article 3. The Vietnamese Economic Industry System comprises the list and content

Issued together with this Decision are the List and Content of the Vietnamese Economic Industry System

1. The List of the Vietnamese Economic Industry System includes five levels:

- Level 1 industry consists of 21 industries coded alphabetically from A to U;

- Level 2 industry consists of 88 industries; each industry is coded with two digits according to the corresponding level 1 industry;

- Level 3 industry consists of 242 industries; each industry is coded with three digits according to the corresponding level 2 industry;

- Level 4 industry consists of 486 industries; each industry is coded with four digits according to the corresponding level 3 industry;

- Level 5 industry consists of 734 industries; each industry is coded with five digits according to the corresponding level 4 industry.

2. The Content of the Vietnamese Economic Industry System clearly explains economic activities including factors classified into each part, wherein:

- Includes: Economic activities determined within the economic industry;

- Excludes: Economic activities not determined within the economic industry but belonging to other economic industries.

Article 4. Effective date

This Decision takes effect from August 20, 2018.

Decision No. 10/2007/QĐ-TTg dated January 23, 2007 of the Government on issuing the Vietnamese Economic Industry System shall cease to be effective from the date this Decision takes effect.

State-owned enterprises that have been assigned by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to conduct offshore wind power project surveys before the effective date of this Circular shall continue to implement according to the assigned documents; any new matters arising after the effective date of this Circular shall be implemented in accordance with the provisions of this Circular.

The Minister, Heads of ministerial-level agencies, Heads of government-affiliated agencies, Chairpersons of provincial People's Committees under central cities are responsible for implementing this Decision./.
