Regarding the establishment of Phu Quoc Economic Zone, Kien Giang Province
Pursuant to the Law on Organization of the Government dated December 25, 2001;
Based on the Investment Law dated November 29, 2005;
Pursuant to Decree No. 29/2008/NĐ-CP dated March 14, 2008 of the Government on industrial zones, export processing zones, and economic zones;
At the proposal of the Minister of Planning and Investment and the People's Committee of Kiên Giang Province;
The Prime Minister issues this Decision on the establishment of Phu Quoc Economic Zone, Kien Giang Province.
Article 1. Establishment of Phu Quoc Economic Zone, Kien Giang Province
1. Phu Quoc Economic Zone, Kien Giang Province is a coastal economic zone. Its boundary includes the entire Phu Quoc Island District with the towns of Duong Dong and An Thoi, and eight communes: Cu Canh, Gan Dau, Bai Thom, Ham Ninh, Cu Duong, Duong To, Tho Chu, and Hon Thom (including the entire southern An Thoi island cluster). The natural area of Phu Quoc Economic Zone is 58,923 hectares.
2. Phu Quoc Economic Zone shall be organized into a tax-free zone and a taxed zone. The tax-free zone is the area determined in connection with An Thoi Port and Phu Quoc Airport, while the taxed zone consists of the remaining areas including functional zones such as tourism and service areas, port and port logistics service areas, industrial zones, urban areas, residential areas, administrative areas, and other functional zones. The scale and location of each area are specified in Decision No. 1197/QĐ-TTg dated November 9, 2005 of the Prime Minister approving the General Planning for Construction of Phu Quoc Island, Kien Giang Province until 2020, and Decision No. 633/QĐ-TTg dated May 11, 2010 of the Prime Minister approving the adjustment of the General Planning for Phu Quoc Island until 2030.
Article 2. Organization, operation, and mechanisms and policies for Phu Quoc Economic Zone, Kien Giang Province shall be implemented in accordance with the Investment Law, Decree No. 29/2008/NĐ-CP dated March 14, 2008 of the Government on industrial zones, export processing zones, and economic zones, and other relevant legal documents.
Article 3. Implementation Provisions
1. This Decision takes effect from July 10, 2013.
2. Ministers, Heads of ministerial-level agencies, Heads of government-affiliated agencies, and the Chairman of the People's Committee of Kien Giang Province are responsible for implementing this Decision./.
