CIRCULAR
Issuing the List of Names of Islands, Rocks, Shoals, Submerged Reefs, and Other Geographic Objects in Vietnam's Marine Territory
Pursuant to the Law on the Sea of Vietnam dated June 21, 2012;
Pursuant to the Law on Surveying and Mapping dated June 14, 2018;
Pursuant to Decree No. 68/2022/NĐ-CP dated September 22, 2022 of the Government stipulating the functions, tasks, powers, and organizational structure of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment;
On the proposal of the Director of the Vietnam National Survey and Mapping Center;
The Minister of Natural Resources and Environment issues this Circular on the issuance of the List of Names of Islands, Rocks, Shoals, Submerged Reefs, and Other Geographic Objects in Vietnam's Marine Territory.
Article 1. Scope of Regulation
This Circular stipulates the unification of the names of islands, rocks, shoals under Vietnam's sovereignty, submerged reefs, and other geographic objects in Vietnam's marine territory for the purpose of map creation work.
Article 2. Applicability
Organizations and individuals who are Vietnamese citizens and organizations and individuals who are foreign citizens residing in Vietnam shall comply with the provisions of Article 1 of this Circular if they engage in activities related to the scope regulated therein.
Article 3. List of Names
Attached to this Circular is the List of Names of 5,774 islands, rocks, shoals under Vietnam's sovereignty, submerged reefs, and other geographic objects in Vietnam's marine territory.
The List of Names shall be adjusted and supplemented when new or changed geographic objects appear in Vietnam's marine territory.
Article 4. Effective date
This Circular takes effect from the date of issuance.
Article 5. Responsibilities for Implementation
Ministries, ministerial-level agencies, agencies under the Government, People's Committees of provinces and centrally governed cities, and relevant organizations and individuals are responsible for implementing this Circular./.
