Regarding the adjustment of administrative boundaries of communes, establishment of communes, and towns belonging to
Than Uyên district, Tam Duong district, Muong Te district, Lai Chau province

THE GOVERNMENT
Pursuant to the Law on Organization of the Government dated December 25, 2001;
Considering the proposal of the Minister of Interior and the Chairman of the People's Committee of Lai Chau province,
DECREE:
Article 1. Adjusting the administrative boundaries of communes to establish communes and towns belonging to Than Uyên district, Tam Duong district, Muong Te district, Lai Chau province as follows:
1. Establishing Trung Dong commune under Than Uyên district based on adjusting 6,188 hectares of natural area and 3,975 population from Thien Thuoc commune.
Trung Dong commune has 6,188 hectares of natural area and 3,975 population.
Administrative boundary of Trung Dong commune: East borders Ho Mit commune, Than Uyen district, Lai Chau province and Ta Van commune, Sa Pa district, Lao Cai province; West borders Thien Thuoc commune, Than Uyen district; South borders Ho Mit commune, Pac Ta commune, Than Uyen district; North borders Tan Uyen town, Than Uyen district.
2. Establishing Hua Na commune under Than Uyen district based on adjusting 2,555.40 hectares of natural area and 2,529 population from Na Cang commune.
Hua Na commune has 2,555.40 hectares of natural area and 2,529 population.
Administrative boundary of Hua Na commune: East borders Ho Bon commune, Mu Can Chai district, Yen Bai province; West borders Na Cang commune, Than Uyen district; South borders Muong Kim commune, Than Uyen district and Ho Bon commune, Mu Can Chai district, Yen Bai province; North borders Than Uyen town, Muong Than commune, Than Uyen district.
3. Establishing Muong Cang commune under Than Uyen district based on 4,309.60 hectares of natural area and 5,362 remaining population of Na Cang commune.

4. Establishing Giang Ma commune under Tam Duong district based on adjusting 3,671.60 hectares of natural area and 2,877 population from Ho Thau commune.

6. Establishing Tan Uyen town under Than Uyen district based on the entire 7,094.91 hectares of natural area and 5,156 population of Nong Truong Than Uyen town; 2,567 population of Thien Thuoc commune.

Administrative boundary of Tan Uyen town: East borders Sa Pa district, Lao Cai province; West borders Muong Khoa commune; South borders Thien Thuoc commune; North borders Phuc Khoa commune.
After adjusting the administrative boundaries of communes to establish communes and towns:
- Thien Thuoc commune remains with 3,058 hectares of natural area and 2,912 population.
Than Uyen district has 170,000 hectares of natural area and 95,559 population, including 22 direct administrative units, namely communes: Thien Thuoc, Trung Dong, Muong Khoa, Phuc Khoa, Nam Can, Ho Mit, Nam So, Pac Ta, Muong Than, Phuc Than, Ta Mit, Muong Mit, Pha Mu, Muong Cang, Hua Na, Ta Hua, Muong Kim, Ta Mung, Ta Gia, Khoen On and Tan Uyen town, Than Uyen town.
- Ho Thau commune remains with 4,329.4 hectares of natural area and 2,638 population.
Tam Duong district has 68,472.56 hectares of natural area and 46,271 population, including 14 direct administrative units, namely communes: Sung Phai, Nung Nang, Ban Giang, Ban Hon, Then Xin, Ta Leng, Ho Thau, Giang Ma, Binh Lu, Son Binh, Na Tam, Ban Bo, Kun Ha and Tam Duong town.
- Nam Hang commune remains with 17,028.20 hectares of natural area and 3,628 population.
Muong Te district has 367,736.49 hectares of natural area and 53,018 population, including 16 direct administrative units, namely communes: Bum Nua, Bum To, Hua Bum, Kan Ho, Ka Lang, Mu Ca, Muong Mo, Muong Te, Nam Kao, Nam Hang, Nam Manh, Pa U, Pa Ve Su, Ta Tong, Thu Lum and Muong town.
Article 2. This Decree takes effect 15 days after its publication in the Official Gazette. All previous regulations contrary to this Decree are abolished.
Article 3. The Minister of Interior, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Lai Chau province, and the Heads of relevant agencies are responsible for implementing this Decree./.
