Decision No. 433-QĐ on suspending the exploitation and export of precious and rare timber

DECISION

No. 433/QD dated August 4, 1989

ON SUSPENDING THE HARVESTING AND EXPORT OF RARE WOODS

MINISTER OF FORESTRY

Pursuant to the Ordinance on Forest Protection adopted by the Standing Committee of the National Assembly on September 6, 1972;

Pursuant to Decree No. 35-CP dated February 9, 1981 of the Council of Ministers stipulating the tasks, powers, responsibilities of the Minister and functions of Ministries in state management;

To manage, protect, and develop rare wood species to meet special needs.

DECIDES:

Article 1. - From now on, suspend the harvesting and export of the following rare wood types:

1. Lát (Chukrasai...)

2. Nghiến (Parapentace tonkinensis Gagnep)

3. Dáng hương (Pterocarpus...)

4. Trắc (Dalbergia...)

5. Cẩm lai (Dalbergia...)

6. Gỗ đỏ (Cà te) (Pahudia cochinchinensis Pierre)

7. Mun (Diospyros...).

Article 2. - In cases of special needs of the State and people, harvesting of rare woods mentioned above must be authorized by a permit issued by the Minister of Forestry.

Locations where these rare wood types have been harvested shall establish wood records and report to the Ministry of Forestry for review and resolution.

Article 3. - This Decision takes effect from the date of issuance.

Article 4. - The Heads of the Office of the Ministry of Forestry, Director of the Forest Inspection Bureau, Heads of relevant Departments and Bureaus, Directors of Agricultural and Forestry Services, Forestry Services, General Managers of Forestry and Wood Industry Associations, and Directors of companies under the Ministry are responsible for implementing this Decision.
