Regarding the establishment of communes, wards, and towns under the districts of Chau Thanh A,
Om Mon, Phung Hiep, and the town of Vi Thanh, Can Tho province

Pursuant to the Law on Organization of the Government dated December 25, 2001;
Considering the proposal of the Minister of Home Affairs and the Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho province,
DECREE:
Article 1. Now, the administrative boundaries are adjusted to establish some communes, wards, and towns under the districts of Chau Thanh A, Om Mon, Phung Hiep, and the town of Vi Thanh, Can Tho province as follows:
1. Establishing My Khanh town - the district capital of Chau Thanh A district based on adjusting 433 hectares of natural area and 4,124 population from Tan Thuan commune, and 297 hectares of natural area and 2,632 population from Nhon Nghia A commune.
My Khanh town has 730 hectares of natural area and 6,756 population.
Administrative boundary of My Khanh town: East borders Nhon Nghia A commune; West borders Tan Thuan commune and Truong Long A commune; South borders Thanh Xuan commune and Phung Hiep district; North borders Truong Long commune. After adjusting the administrative boundaries to establish My Khanh town:
- Tan Thuan commune remains with 1,578 hectares of natural area and 7,627 population.
- Nhon Nghia A commune remains with 1,543 hectares of natural area and 11,301 population.
2. Establishing Xuan Thang commune under Om Mon district based on 1,207.7 hectares of natural area and 7,645 population from Thoi Lai commune.
Administrative boundary of Xuan Thang commune: East borders Thoi Thanh commune and Thoi Lai town; West borders Dong Hiep commune; South borders Thoi Lai commune; North borders Thoi Long commune.
After adjusting the administrative boundaries to establish Xuan Thang commune, Thoi Lai commune remains with 2,608.53 hectares of natural area and 11,157 population.
3. Establishing Tan Thanh commune under Phung Hiep district based on 1,481.1 hectares of natural area and 6,924 population from Dai Thanh commune.
Administrative boundary of Tan Thanh commune: East borders Soc Trang province; West borders Chau Thanh district; South borders Dai Thanh commune; North borders Chau Thanh district.
After adjusting the administrative boundaries to establish Tan Thanh commune, Dai Thanh commune remains with 2,696.32 hectares of natural area and 13,486 population.
4. Establishing Ward VII under Vi Thanh town based on 616 hectares of natural area and 6,625 population from Hoa Lua commune.
Administrative boundary of Ward VII: East borders Ward III; West borders Hoa Tien commune and Kien Giang province; South borders Hoa Lua commune; North borders Vi Tan commune.
After adjusting the administrative boundaries to establish Ward VII, Hoa Lua commune remains with 1,711 hectares of natural area and 7,122 population.
Article 2. This Decree shall take effect fifteen days after its publication in the Official Gazette. All previous provisions contrary to this Decree are hereby abolished.
Article 3. The Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho province, the Minister of Home Affairs, and the heads of relevant agencies are responsible for implementing this Decree./.
