DECISION
Regarding the approval of the expansion plan for the Ba Vì National Park area

PRIME MINISTER
Pursuant to the Law on Organization of the Government dated December 25, 2001;
Pursuant to the Law on Protection and Development of Forests dated August 12, 1991;
Considering the proposal of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (document number 771/BNN-KL dated April 2, 2003) and the People's Committee of Hoa Binh Province (document number 222/UB-NLN dated February 21, 2003).
DECISION:
Article 1. Approve the expansion plan for the Ba Vì National Park area, including the following contents:
1. Geographic location:
The expanded area of the Ba Vì National Park is located within nine communes of Ky Son and Luong Son districts, Hoa Binh Province. The boundary of the expansion surrounds the Van Nam mountain range, with the lowest elevation being 100 meters (in Phu Minh commune) and the highest being 500 meters (in Dong Xuan commune).
Geographic coordinates:
From 105° 23' to 105° 28' East longitude.
From 20° 56' to 21° 00' North latitude.
2. Scale of the expanded area:
Total area: 4,646 hectares, including:
- Ky Son district has an area of 1,569 hectares in three communes: Phu Minh, Phuc Tien, and Dan Hoa.
- Luong Son district has an area of 3,077 hectares in six communes: Yen Quang, Yen Trung, Yen Binh, Tien Xuan, Dong Xuan, and Lam Son.
Article 2. Objectives and tasks of the Ba Vì National Park expansion:
The main objectives and tasks are to organize effective protection of the rich and diverse genetic resources of the Van Nam mountain range, while creating a harmonious ecological environment for cultural and economic projects in the northwest suburbs of Hanoi such as the Village of Ethnic Cultures of Vietnam, High-tech Zone, National University City, Dong Xuan Urban Area, etc. To create conditions for socio-economic development in the buffer zone of the national park in Ky Son and Luong Son districts, Hoa Binh Province.
Article 3. Assign the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, based on the provisions of Decision No. 08/2001/QĐ-TTg dated January 11, 2001 issued by the Prime Minister regarding the management regulations for special-use forests, protective forests, and natural production forests, to coordinate with the People's Committees of Ha Tay and Hoa Binh Provinces to effectively manage, protect, and utilize the natural resources of the Ba Vì National Park.
Article 4. THIS DECISION SHALL TAKE EFFECT 15 DAYS FROM THE DATE OF SIGNATURE.
Ministers, Heads of ministerial-level agencies and agencies under the Government, Chairmen of the People's Committees of Hoa Binh and Ha Tay Provinces are responsible for implementing this Decision./.
