DECREE OF THE GOVERNMENT
Regarding the adjustment of administrative boundaries to establish communes, wards, and towns under
Long Xuyen city and the districts of Tinh Bien, An Phu,
Thoai Son, Tan Chau, An Giang province
THE GOVERNMENT
Pursuant to the Law on Organization of the Government dated December 25, 2001;
Considering the proposal of the Minister of Interior and the Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province,
DECREE:
Article 1. Now, the administrative boundaries are adjusted to establish wards, communes, and towns under Long Xuyen city and the districts of Tinh Bien, An Phu, Thoai Son, Tan Chau, An Giang province as follows:
1. Establishing Dong Xuyen ward under Long Xuyen city based on 89 hectares of natural area and 10,149 population from My Xuyen ward.
Dong Xuyen ward has 89 hectares of natural area and 10,149 population.
Administrative boundary of Dong Xuyen ward: East borders My Xuyen and My Phuoc wards; West borders My Hoa ward; South borders My Phuoc ward; North borders My Binh ward.
After establishing Dong Xuyen ward, My Xuyen ward remains with 62 hectares of natural area and 16,368 population.
2. Establishing My Hoa ward under Long Xuyen city based on the entire natural area and population of My Hoa commune.
My Hoa ward has 1,651 hectares of natural area and 26,928 population.
Administrative boundary of My Hoa ward: East borders Dong Xuyen, My Phuoc, and My Ky wards; West borders Thoai Son district; South borders My Thoi ward; North borders My Binh and Binh Khanh wards and My Khanh commune.
3. Establishing Tinh Bien town under Tinh Bien district based on the entire natural area and population of Xuan To commune.
Tinh Bien town has 1,938 hectares of natural area and 12,850 population.
Administrative boundary of Tinh Bien town: East borders An Phu commune; West borders the Kingdom of Cambodia; South borders An Nong and An Cu communes; North borders An Phu commune and the Kingdom of Cambodia.
4. Establishing Long Binh town under An Phu district based on 174 hectares of natural area and 4,054 population from Khanh Binh commune, 248 hectares of natural area and 3,738 population from Khanh An commune.
Long Binh town has 422 hectares of natural area and 7,792 population.
Administrative boundary of Long Binh town: East borders Khanh An commune; West borders the Kingdom of Cambodia; South borders Khanh Binh and Khanh An communes; North borders the Kingdom of Cambodia.
After adjusting administrative boundaries to establish Long Binh town:
- Khanh Binh commune remains with 730 hectares of natural area and 7,004 population.
- Khanh An commune remains with 541 hectares of natural area and 11,046 population.
5. Establishing An Binh commune under Thoai Son district based on 1,636 hectares of natural area and 4,804 population from Tay Phu commune, 1,221 hectares of natural area and 2,355 population from Vuong Dong commune.
An Binh commune has 2,857 hectares of natural area and 7,159 population.
Administrative boundary of An Binh commune: East borders My Phu Dong commune; West borders Tri Ton district; South borders Vuong The and Vuong Dong communes; North borders Tay Phu commune.
After adjusting administrative boundaries to establish An Binh commune:
- Tay Phu commune remains with 3,591 hectares of natural area and 7,244 population.
- Vuong Dong commune remains with 2,955 hectares of natural area and 14,789 population.
6. Establishing Tan Thanh commune under Tan Chau district based on 1,134 hectares of natural area and 10,423 population from Tan An commune.
Tan Thanh commune has 1,134 hectares of natural area and 10,423 population.
Administrative boundary of Tan Thanh commune: East borders Vinh Hoa commune; West borders An Phu district; South borders Tan An commune; North borders Vinh Hoa commune.
After adjusting administrative boundaries to establish Tan Thanh commune, Tan An commune remains with 1,086 hectares of natural area and 9,231 population.
Article 2. This Decree shall take effect fifteen days after its publication in the Official Gazette. All previous provisions contrary to this Decree are hereby abolished.
Article 3. The Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province, the Minister of Interior, and the Heads of related agencies are responsible for implementing this Decree./.
