REGARDING CUSTOMS DUTY RATES FOR VETERINARY DRUG IMPORTS

The Ministry of Finance has received Letter No. 5801/SGNV dated June 18, 2001 from the Joint Stock Company Thanh Nhon Trading regarding customs duty rates for veterinary drug imports. In response to this matter, the Ministry of Finance provides the following comments:
According to the Import Tariff Schedule promulgated together with Decision No. 1803/1998/QĐ/BTC dated December 11, 1998, which has been amended and supplemented by Decision No. 193/2000/QĐ/BTC dated December 5, 2000 of the Minister of Finance; Circular No. 37/1999/TT/BTC dated April 7, 1999 of the Ministry of Finance guiding the classification of goods according to the Export Tariff and Import Tariff Schedule:
Veterinary drugs AMINOVITAL-HIGH inj containing a synthetic group B vitamin complex including B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 fall under heading 3004 with an import tariff rate of 5% (five percent), specifically:
- Consignments declared to customs authorities before January 1, 2001 are classified under code 30045050.
- Consignments declared to customs authorities from January 1, 2001 onwards are classified under code 30045096.
The Ministry of Finance provides this opinion for the Joint Stock Company Thanh Nhon Trading to be aware. We request the General Department of Customs to instruct local customs offices to implement uniformly.
