DECISION

NUMBER 71/NH-QĐ OF MAY 29, 1989

ON THE ESTABLISHMENT OF SAVINGS DEPOSIT INTEREST RATES

DIRECTOR

STATE BANK OF VIETNAM

Pursuant to Decision No. 55-CT dated March 10, 1989 of the Chairman of the Council of Ministers assigning the Director of the State Bank of Vietnam to establish deposit interest rates,

DECIDES:

Article 1. - The following savings deposit interest rates are hereby established:

1. Non-term deposits: 7% per month.

2. Term deposits for three months: 9% per month.

These interest rates shall be adjusted in line with fluctuations of the market price index.

Article 2.- The interest rates established under Article 1 shall take effect from June 1, 1989 and apply uniformly throughout the country to specialized banks, joint-stock banks, credit funds, and credit cooperatives. Balances of term deposits made up to May 31, 1989 will retain an interest rate of 12% until their three-month period expires from the date of deposit. Balances of non-term deposits as of May 31, 1989 shall be subject to new interest rates starting June 1, 1989.

This Decision replaces Decision No. 29-NH/QĐ dated March 16, 1989.

Article 3. - The Director of the Office, Directors of Central Specialized Banks, Heads of Departments and Institutes of the State Bank of Vietnam, Governors of the State Bank, specialized banks in provinces, cities, special zones, and regions are responsible for implementing this Decision.
