PRIME MINISTER

Pursuant to the Government Organization Law issued on September 30, 1992;

Considering the proposal of the Minister, Chairman of the Committee for Child Protection and Care of Vietnam at the report No. 06/TTr-BVCSTE dated April 16, 2001, and No. 256/BVCSTE dated April 23, 2001,

DECISION:

Article 1. June 28 of each year shall be designated as Vietnam Family Day.

Article 2. The family is the cell of society, the cradle nurturing children, and an important environment shaping and educating the personality of children. Building warm, equal, progressive, and happy families contributes to the cause of building and defending the country.

Vietnam Family Day will be organized uniformly nationwide. On Vietnam Family Day, the Committee for Child Protection and Care of Vietnam shall take the lead and coordinate with provincial and municipal people's committees under the central government, relevant ministries and sectors, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and its member organizations to direct the implementation of appropriate activities with specific and practical themes aimed at promoting propaganda and mobilizing all strata of the population to participate in the movement "Building warm, equal, progressive, and happy families."

Ministries, sectors, and provincial and municipal people's committees under the central government shall proactively arrange and allocate funds to organize activities on Vietnam Family Day within their annual state budget estimates; encourage the mobilization of other resources both domestically and internationally to support the implementation of these activities.

Article 3. The Committee for Child Protection and Care of Vietnam shall be responsible for guiding the implementation of this Decision.

This Decision takes effect fifteen days after the date of signature.

Article 4. Ministers, Heads of ministerial-level agencies, Heads of government-affiliated agencies, Chairpersons of People's Committees of provinces and centrally governed cities are responsible for implementing this Decision./.
