DECREE
Regarding the division of Hiên District into Dong Giang and Tay Giang Districts 

and the division of Tra My District into Bac Tra My and Nam Tra My Districts, Quang Nam Province
and Nam Trà My, province of Quảng Nam

THE GOVERNMENT

    On the basis of the Law on Government Organization dated December 25, 2001;

Considering the proposal of the Minister of Home Affairs and the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam Province,

DECREE:

Article 1. Now, the administrative boundaries are adjusted to divide Hiên District into Dong Giang and Tay Giang Districts, and Tra My District into Bac Tra My and Nam Tra My Districts, Quang Nam Province, as follows:

1. Divide Hiên District into Dong Giang and Tay Giang Districts.

Dong Giang District has an area of 81,120 hectares and a population of 20,798; it includes 11 administrative units, namely the communes Ba, Tu, A Ting, Song Kon, Jo Ngay, Ta Lu, Za Hung, A Rooi, Ma Cooih, Ka Dang and the town of Prao.

The administrative boundary of Dong Giang District: East borders Da Nang City; West borders Tay Giang District; South borders Nam Giang and Dai Loc Districts; North borders Thua Thien Hue Province and Da Nang City.

Tay Giang District has an area of 90,120 hectares and a population of 13,405; it includes 10 administrative units, namely the communes A Vuong, Dang, Lang, BhaLe, A Xan, Chom, Ga Ri, A Tieng, A Nong.

The administrative boundary of Tay Giang District: East borders Dong Giang District; West borders the Lao People's Democratic Republic; South borders Nam Giang District; North borders Thua Thien Hue Province.

2. Divide Tra My District into Bac Tra My and Nam Tra My Districts.

Bac Tra My District has an area of 82,325 hectares and a population of 36,386; it includes 12 administrative units, namely the communes Tra Dong, Tra Duong, Tra Giang, Tra Nu, Tra Kot, Tra Tan, Tra Doc, Tra Bui, Tra Gac, Tra Gap, Tra Ka and the town of Tra My.

The administrative boundary of Bac Tra My District: East borders Nui Thanh District and Quang Ngai Province; West borders Phuoc Son District; South borders Nam Tra My District; North borders Tien Phuoc and Hiep Duc Districts and Tam Ky Town.

Nam Tra My District has an area of 82,235 hectares and a population of 19,876; it includes 10 administrative units, namely the communes Tra Don, Tra Leng, Tra Van, Tra Vinh, Tra Tap, Tra Don, Tra Nam, Tra Cang, Tra Mai, Tra Linh.

The administrative boundary of Nam Tra My District: East borders Quang Ngai and Kon Tum Provinces; West borders Phuoc Son District and Kon Tum Province; South borders Kon Tum Province; North borders Bac Tra My District.

Article 2. This Decree shall take effect fifteen days from the date of publication in the Official Gazette. All previous regulations contrary to this Decree are hereby abolished.

Article 3. The Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam Province, the Minister of Home Affairs and the Heads of relevant agencies are responsible for implementing this Decree./.
