Circular No. 72/2009/TT-BNNPTNT Issuing the List of Genetically Modified Crop Species Permitted for Risk Assessment Trials Related to Biodiversity and the Environment for Seed Production Purposes in Vietnam

CIRCULAR

ISSUING THE LIST OF GENETICALLY MODIFIED CROP SPECIES PERMITTED FOR RISK ASSESSMENT TESTING FOR BIODIVERSITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION PURPOSES IN VIETNAM

Pursuant to Decree No. 01/2008/NĐ-CP dated January 3, 2008, of the Government stipulating the functions, tasks, powers, and organizational structure of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development;

WHEREAS Decision No. 11/2006/QĐ-TTg dated January 12, 2006 of the Prime Minister approving the "Key Program for Developing and Applying Biotechnology in Agriculture and Rural Development until 2020";

WHEREAS Circular No. 69/2009/TT-BNNPTNT dated October 27, 2009 of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development stipulating risk assessment testing for biodiversity and environmental protection of genetically modified crop varieties;

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development hereby issues the list of genetically modified crop species permitted for risk assessment testing for biodiversity and environmental protection purposes for seed production in Vietnam,

Article 1. Issuing the list of genetically modified crop species permitted for risk assessment testing for biodiversity and environmental protection purposes for seed production in Vietnam, including:

1. Maize (Zea mays L.);

2. Cotton (Gossypium spp.);

3. Soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merrill].

Article 2. This Circular shall take effect 45 days from the date of issuance.

Article 3. The Director of the Ministry's Office, Heads of the Science, Technology and Environment Department, and Heads of related units are responsible for implementing this Circular./.
