the establishment of wards and communes under Gia Nghia City and
renaming Dak Nong District to Dak Glong District, Dak Nong Province

THE GOVERNMENT
Pursuant to the Law on Organization of the Government dated December 25, 2001;
Considering the proposal of the Minister of Interior and the People's Committee of Dak Nong Province,
DECREE:
Article 1.
Now, the administrative boundaries of Dak Nong District are adjusted to establish Gia Nghia City - the provincial capital of Dak Nong Province, establish wards and communes under Gia Nghia City, and rename Dak Nong District to Dak Glong District, Dak Nong Province as follows:
1. Establish Gia Nghia City - the provincial capital of Dak Nong Province based on the entire natural area and population of Gia Nghia Town, Quang Thanh Commune, and Dak Nia Commune of Dak Nong District.
Gia Nghia City has 28,664 hectares of natural area and 35,559 inhabitants.
Administrative boundaries of Gia Nghia City: East borders Dak Glong District; West borders Dak R'Lap District; South borders Lam Dong Province; North borders Dak Song District.
2. Establish wards and communes under Gia Nghia City:
a) Establish Nghia Duc Ward based on 99 hectares of natural area and 2,981 inhabitants of Gia Nghia Town; 333 hectares of natural area and 235 inhabitants of Dak Nia Commune; 1,232 hectares of natural area and 710 inhabitants of Quang Thanh Commune.
Nghia Duc Ward has 1,664 hectares of natural area and 3,926 inhabitants.
Administrative boundaries of Nghia Duc Ward: East borders Dak Nia Commune and Dak Glong District; West borders Nghia Thanh Ward; South borders Dak Nia Commune and Nghia Trung Ward; North borders Quang Thanh Commune.
b) Establish Nghia Thanh Ward based on 134 hectares of natural area and 5,286 inhabitants of Gia Nghia Town; 152 hectares of natural area and 2,754 inhabitants of Quang Thanh Commune.
Nghia Thanh Ward has 286 hectares of natural area and 8,040 inhabitants.
Administrative boundaries of Nghia Thanh Ward: East borders Nghia Duc Ward; West borders Nghia Phu Ward; South borders Nghia Tan Ward; North borders Quang Thanh Commune.
c) Establish Nghia Phu Ward based on 699 hectares of natural area and 1,828 inhabitants of Gia Nghia Town; 614 hectares of natural area and 512 inhabitants of Quang Thanh Commune.
Nghia Phu Ward has 1,313 hectares of natural area and 2,340 inhabitants.
Administrative boundaries of Nghia Phu Ward: East borders Nghia Thanh Ward and Nghia Tan Ward; West borders Dak R'Moan Commune; South borders Dak R'Lap District and Nghia Tan Ward; North borders Quang Thanh Commune.
d) Establish Nghia Tan Ward based on 1,215 hectares of natural area and 3,161 inhabitants of Gia Nghia Town; 513 hectares of natural area and 484 inhabitants of Dak Nia Commune.
Nghia Tan Ward has 1,728 hectares of natural area and 3,644 inhabitants.
Administrative boundaries of Nghia Tan Ward: East borders Nghia Trung Ward; West borders Nghia Phu Ward and Dak R'Lap District; South borders Dak Nia Commune; North borders Nghia Phu Ward and Nghia Thanh Ward.
đ) Establish Nghia Trung Ward based on 520 hectares of natural area and 4,112 inhabitants of Gia Nghia Town; 896 hectares of natural area and 2,749 inhabitants of Dak Nia Commune.
Nghia Trung Ward has 1,416 hectares of natural area and 6,861 inhabitants.
Administrative boundaries of Nghia Trung Ward: East borders Dak Nia Commune; West borders Nghia Tan Ward; South borders Dak Nia Commune; North borders Nghia Duc Ward.
e) Establish Dak R'Moan Commune based on 4,956 hectares of natural area with 4,045 inhabitants of Quang Thanh Commune.

Administrative boundaries of Dak R'Moan Commune: East borders Quang Thanh Commune and Nghia Phu Ward; West borders Dak R'Lap District; South borders Dak R'Lap District; North borders Dak Song District.
After adjusting the administrative boundaries to establish Gia Nghia City and the affiliated wards and communes:
Gia Nghia City has 8 subordinate administrative units including Nghia Duc Ward, Nghia Thanh Ward, Nghia Phu Ward, Nghia Tan Ward, Nghia Trung Ward, and Dak R'Moan Commune, Quang Thanh Commune, Dak Nia Commune.
Quang Thanh Commune retains 7,945 hectares of natural area and 1,984 inhabitants.
Dak Nia Commune retains 9,356 hectares of natural area and 4,719 inhabitants.
Dak Nong District retains 144,228 hectares of natural area and 20,504 inhabitants, with 6 subordinate administrative units being Quang Khe Commune, Dak Ha Commune, Dak R'Mang Commune, Dak Plao Commune, Dak Som Commune, and Quang Son Commune.
Rename Dak Nong District to Dak Glong District.
Article 2.
This Decree shall take effect fifteen days after its publication in the Official Gazette. All previous provisions contrary to this Decree are hereby abolished.
Article 3.
The Minister of Interior, the People's Committee of Dak Nong Province, and the heads of relevant agencies are responsible for implementing this Decree.
