DECISION
On the Use of the National Reference System and Coordinate System of Vietnam
PRIME MINISTER
Pursuant to the Government Organization Law dated September 30, 1992;
Pursuant to the proposal of the Director General of the Land Administration General Department,
DECISION:
Article 1. The new National Reference System and Coordinate System shall replace the existing Hanoi-72 National Reference System and Coordinate System with the following contents:
1. Name of the new National Reference System and Coordinate System: VN-2000.
2. The VN-2000 National Reference System and Coordinate System has the main parameters as follows:
a) Reference Ellipsoid: The global International Terrestrial Reference System WGS-84 with the following dimensions:
. Semi-major axis: a = 6,378,137.000 m
. Flattening: f = 1/298,257223563
b) Origin of the national coordinate system: point N00 located within the premises of the Institute of Land Administration Research, Hoang Quoc Viet Street, Hanoi;
c) Basic plane coordinate grid: the international transverse Mercator projection grid;
d) Time zone division and map sheet fragmentation of the basic mapping system: according to the international transverse Mercator projection grid system, the map sheet nomenclature follows the current system with annotations of the international UTM nomenclature.
3. Coordinates and elevations of national geodetic points of various classes in the VN-2000 system will be calculated and provided by the Land Administration General Department to agencies and units requiring their use in accordance with current regulations.
Article 2. The VN-2000 system shall replace the Hanoi-72 system and be uniformly applied throughout the country for all types of surveying and mapping materials starting from the date this Decision takes effect.
Article 3. The Land Administration General Department is tasked with organizing the guidance on the uniform application of the new National Reference System and Coordinate System VN-2000 nationwide.
Article 4. This Decision shall take effect thirty days from the date of signature.
Article 5. Ministers of Ministries, Heads of ministerial-level agencies, Heads of agencies under the Government, and Chairpersons of provincial and municipal People's Committees directly under the Central Government are responsible for implementing this Decision.
