Pursuant to the Government Organization Law dated December 25, 2001;
Pursuant to the Law on Forest Protection and Development dated August 12, 1991;
Considering the proposal of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (document number: 1680/BNN-KL dated June 24, 2002) and the proposal of the People's Committee of Dak Lak Province (document number 1239/CV-UB dated May 24, 2002).
DECISION:
Article 1. Convert the Chu Yang Sin Nature Reserve, located in Dak Lak Province, into a National Park within the system of Special-Use Forests in Vietnam, including the following contents:
1. Name: Chu Yang Sin National Park.
2. Location, boundaries, and coordinates:
- Location:
The Chu Yang Sin National Park is situated in the communes of Yang Mao, Chu Drăm, CuVui, Hòa Phong, Hòa Lễ, Hòa Sơn, Khuê Ngọc Điền in Krông Bông District and the communes of Yang Cao, Bông Krang, Krông Nô, Đắk Phơi in Lắk District, Dak Lak Province.
- Boundaries:
East: along the Krông Bông River to the junction of the Ya Brô stream and the watershed line of the Krông Ana River.
West: from the Đắk Cao stream to the junction of the Đắk Kial stream and the watershed line between Đắk Cao and Đắk Phơi.
South: along the Krông Nô River, the boundary between Dak Lak and Lam Dong Provinces.
North: starting from the Krông KMar waterfall through the Chu Ju - Chu Jang Bông range to the Ea Ktuor stream.

- The buffer zone of the Chu Yang Sin National Park has an area of 183,479 hectares, located in Lac Duong and Lam Ha districts of Lam Dong Province and Krông Bông and Lắk districts of Dak Lak Province.
4. Objectives and tasks:
To protect the standard models of forest ecosystems in the highlands of the Central Highlands, conserve wild flora and fauna, especially endemic and rare species.
To conduct scientific research, environmental education, and develop eco-tourism, contributing to local economic and social development.
To protect the headwaters of the Srepok and Mekong rivers, regulate and supply water for agricultural production.
Article 2. Entrust the People's Committee of Dak Lak Province with direct management of the Chu Yang Sin National Park.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Dak Lak Province shall be responsible for:
Submitting to the competent authority for approval of the investment project for construction and development of the Chu Yang Sin National Park and the investment project for development of the buffer zone of the Chu Yang Sin National Park in accordance with current regulations.
Submitting to the competent authority for approval of the eco-tourism development project within the Chu Yang Sin National Park.
Article 3. Regarding the organization and staff structure of the Chu Yang Sin National Park.
Entrust the Chairman of the People's Committee of Dak Lak Province to decide on the organization and staff structure of the Chu Yang Sin National Park in accordance with the provisions of the Regulation on Management of Special-Use Forests, Protective Forests, and Naturally Produced Production Forests issued together with Decision No. 08/2001/QĐ-TTg dated January 11, 2001 of the Prime Minister and the consensus of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Government Organizational Staff Department.
Article 4. THIS DECISION SHALL TAKE EFFECT 15 DAYS FROM THE DATE OF SIGNATURE.
Ministers, Heads of ministerial-level agencies and agencies under the Government, and the Chairman of the People's Committee of Dak Lak Province are responsible for implementing this Decision./.
