Decree No. 97/2005/NĐ-CP Regarding the establishment of Rạch Giá city under Kiên Giang province; adjustment of administrative boundaries, establishment of communes in Gò Quao, An Minh, Châu Thành, Kiên Hải, and Giồng Riềng districts of Kiên Giang province.

DECREE

Regarding the establishment of Rach Gia City under Kien Giang Province;

Adjusting administrative boundaries, establishing communes under Go Quao,

An Minh, Chau Thanh, Kien Hai, and Giom Rieng districts of Kien Giang Province

THE GOVERNMENT

Pursuant to the Law on Organization of the Government dated December 25, 2001;

Considering the proposal of the People's Committee of Kien Giang Province and the Minister of Home Affairs,

DECREE:

Article 1. Now establish Rach Gia City under Kien Giang Province; adjust administrative boundaries, establish communes under Go Quao, An Minh, Chau Thanh, Kien Hai, and Giom Rieng districts of Kien Giang Province as follows:

1. Establish Rach Gia City under Kien Giang Province based on the entire natural area and population of Rach Gia Town.

Rach Gia City has 9,775.42 hectares of natural area and 205,660 inhabitants, including 12 administrative units which are wards: Vinh Thanh Van, Vinh Thanh, Vinh Lac, Vinh Bao, Vinh Loi, Vinh Quang, An Hoa, An Binh, Rach Soi, Vinh Thong, Vinh Hiep, and Phi Thong commune.

Administrative boundary of Rach Gia City: East borders Go Quao and Chau Thanh districts; West borders the East Sea; South borders Chau Thanh and An Bien districts; North borders Hon Dat and Go Quao districts.

2. Adjust 280 hectares of natural area and 1,230 inhabitants of Vinh Phuoc B commune under Go Quao district to be managed by Go Quao town.

After adjusting administrative boundaries to expand Go Quao town:

- Go Quao town has 1,954 hectares of natural area and 9,892 inhabitants.

- Vinh Phuoc B commune remains with 2,754.91 hectares of natural area and 8,156 inhabitants.

3. Establish Tan Thanh commune under An Minh district based on 3,956 hectares of natural area and 10,939 inhabitants of Dong Thanh commune.

Tan Thanh commune has 3,956 hectares of natural area and 10,939 inhabitants.

Administrative boundary of Tan Thanh commune: East borders Hoa Thuan and Dong Thanh communes; West borders the East Sea; South borders Dong Hung A commune; North borders Hoa Thuan commune.

After establishing Tan Thanh commune, Dong Thanh commune remains with 5,432 hectares of natural area and 12,641 inhabitants.

4. Establish Mong Tho commune under Chau Thanh district based on 1,480.42 hectares of natural area and 7,938 inhabitants of Mong Tho B commune.

Mong Tho commune has 1,480.42 hectares of natural area and 7,938 inhabitants.

Administrative boundary of Mong Tho commune: East borders Tan Hiep district; West borders Mong Tho A commune; South borders Mong Tho B, Giuc Tuong, and Tan Hiep district; North borders Mong Tho A and Tan Hiep district.

After establishing Mong Tho commune, Mong Tho B commune remains with 1,900.58 hectares of natural area and 13,608 inhabitants.

5. Establish Nam Du commune under Kien Hai district based on 440 hectares of natural area and 5,484 inhabitants of An Son commune.

Nam Du commune has 440 hectares of natural area and 5,484 inhabitants.

Administrative boundary of Nam Du commune: East, South, and North border the East Sea; West borders An Son commune.

After establishing Nam Du commune, An Son commune remains with 675 hectares of natural area and 8,033 inhabitants.

6. Establish Ngoc Hoa commune under Giom Rieng district based on 3,009.68 hectares of natural area and 11,170 inhabitants of Hoa Thuan commune.

Ngoc Hoa commune has 3,009.68 hectares of natural area and 11,170 inhabitants.

Administrative boundary of Ngoc Hoa commune: East borders Hoa Hung commune; West borders Ngoc Chuc commune; South borders Hoa Thuan commune; North borders Ngoc Chuc and Hoa An communes.

After establishing Ngoc Hoa commune, Hoa Thuan commune remains with 4,312.62 hectares of natural area and 16,500 inhabitants.

7. Establish Vinh Phu commune under Giom Rieng district based on 2,730 hectares of natural area and 4,968 inhabitants of Vinh Thanh commune.

Vinh Phu commune has 2,730 hectares of natural area and 4,968 inhabitants.

Administrative boundary of Vinh Phu commune: East borders Go Quao district; West borders Vinh Thanh commune; South borders Go Quao district; North borders Vinh Thanh and Hoa Thuan communes.

After establishing Vinh Phu commune, Vinh Thanh commune remains with 2,470 hectares of natural area and 9,563 inhabitants.

Article 2. This Decree shall take effect fifteen days after its publication in the Official Gazette. All previous provisions contrary to this Decree are hereby abolished.

Article 3. The People's Committee of Kien Giang Province, the Minister of Home Affairs, and heads of relevant agencies are responsible for implementing this Decree./.
