DECREE OF THE GOVERNMENT
Regarding the adjustment of administrative boundaries
of Lak District and Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak Province.
THE GOVERNMENT
On the basis of the Law on Government Organization dated December 25, 2001;
Pursuant to Resolution No. 22/2003/QH11 dated November 26, 2003 of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Session XI, fourth session on the division and adjustment of administrative boundaries of some provinces;
Considering the proposal of the Minister of Home Affairs and the Chairman of the People's Committee of Dak Lak Province (former);
DECREE:
Article 1. Now, the administrative boundaries of Lak District and Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak Province are adjusted as follows:
1. To incorporate Nam Ka Commune and Ea R'Bin Commune (belonging to Krong Nô District) into Lak District.
After the adjustment of administrative boundaries:
Lak District has an area of 124,965 hectares and a population of 80,555, with 11 administrative units directly under it, namely Dak Nue Commune, Dak Phoi Commune, Dak Lieng Commune, Yang Tao Commune, Buon Trieu Commune, Bong Krang Commune, Buon Tri Commune, Krong No Commune, Nam Ka Commune, Ea R'Bin Commune, and Lien Son Town.
2. To incorporate Hoa Phu Commune, Hoa Khanh Commune, and Hoa Xuan Commune (Cuu Jut District) into Buon Ma Thuot City.
After the adjustment of administrative boundaries:
Buon Ma Thuot City has an area of 36,862 hectares and a population of 299,310, with 21 administrative units directly under it, including Thong Nhat Ward, Thanh Nhat Ward, Thang Loi Ward, Tan Loi Ward, Thanh Cong Ward, Tan Thanh Ward, Tan Tien Ward, Tu An Ward, Tan Lap Ward, Tan An Ward, Tan Hoa Ward, Ea Tam Ward, Khanh Xuan Ward, Ea Tu Commune, Hoa Thuan Commune, Hoa Thang Commune, Cu Ebur Commune, Ea Kao Commune, Hoa Phu Commune, Hoa Khanh Commune, and Hoa Xuan Commune.
The new Dak Lak Province has an area of 1,306,201 hectares and a population of 1,666,854, comprising 13 administrative units directly under it, namely Ea Sup District, Buon Don District, Cuu Mgarr District, Krong Buk District, Ea Hleo District, Krong Nang District, Mdrak District, Ea Kar District, Krong Pac District, Krong Bong District, Krong Ana District, Lak District, and Buon Ma Thuot City.
Article 2. This Decree shall take effect fifteen days from the date of publication in the Official Gazette. All previous regulations contrary to this Decree are hereby abolished.
Article 3. The Chairman of the Interim People's Committee of Dak Lak Province, the Minister of Home Affairs, and the heads of relevant agencies are responsible for implementing this Decree./.
