Guidelines on prohibiting the import of vehicles and equipment using leaded gasoline

pursuant to Directive No. 24/2000/CT-TTg dated November 23, 2000 of the Prime Minister

on implementing unleaded gasoline usage in Vietnam

Implementing Directive No. 24/2000/CT-TTg dated November 23, 2000 of the Prime Minister on implementing unleaded gasoline usage in Vietnam;

Implementing the guidance of the Prime Minister as stated in Document No. 223/VPCP-KG dated January 15, 2001 of the Government Office;

After consulting relevant ministries and sectors;

The Ministry of Trade provides guidelines on prohibiting the import of vehicles and equipment using leaded gasoline as follows:

I. GENERAL PROVISIONS:

1. From the date this Circular takes effect, enterprises, organizations, and individuals shall not enter into contracts for importing vehicles and equipment with engines that can only operate on leaded gasoline (except for vehicles and equipment imported according to plans of the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security).

2. Import contracts signed after the date this Circular takes effect must clearly state that the vehicle and/or equipment is a type that can operate on unleaded gasoline, and simultaneously stipulate that the seller has the responsibility to provide a catalog, technical documentation, or a manufacturer's document confirming that the vehicle and/or equipment is a type that can operate on unleaded gasoline.

3. The confirmation mentioned in Clause 2 above may be used to prove to the registration authority that the vehicle and/or equipment is a type that can operate on unleaded gasoline.

4. Contracts signed before the date this Circular takes effect, if they do not contain provisions as specified in Clause 2, need to be supplemented or amended accordingly to comply with the provisions set out in Clause 3.

II. IMPLEMENTATION PROVISIONS:

This Circular shall take effect fifteen days from the date of issuance./.
