DECREE-LAW
OF THE COUNCIL CHAIRMAN NO. 015/SL DATED DECEMBER 14, 1959
PRESIDENT OF THE VIETNAMESE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC
WHEREAS Decree-Law No. 53-SL dated October 20, 1945 provides for Vietnamese nationality;
WHEREAS Decree-Law No. 25-SL dated February 25, 1946 amends Articles 5 and 6 of the aforementioned decree-law;
WHEREAS at the request of the Minister of Interior Affairs and the Minister of Justice;
NOW ISSUES THE FOLLOWING DECREE-LAW:
Article 1
The provisions of Articles 5 and 6 of Decree-Law No. 53-SL dated October 20, 1945 and Decree-Law No. 25-SL dated February 25, 1946 are hereby repealed.
Article 2
Vietnamese women who married foreigners before the issuance of this decree-law shall retain their Vietnamese nationality. Those wishing to adopt the nationality of their foreign husband must apply to renounce their Vietnamese nationality within six months from the date of issuance of this decree-law and obtain permission from the Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
Article 3
The Ministers of Interior Affairs and Justice are responsible for implementing this decree-law.
