MINISTER OF EDUCATION AND TRAINING
Pursuant to Government Decree No. 43/2000/NĐ-CP dated August 30, 2000 detailing and guiding the implementation of certain provisions of the Education Law;
Pursuant to Decree No. 15/CP dated March 2, 1993 of the Government on the tasks, powers, and responsibilities for state management of Ministries and ministerial-level agencies;
At the proposal of the Director of the High School Department,
DECISION:
Article 1. Amend Article 6 of the Admissions Regulation for secondary schools and high schools issued together with Decision No. 08/1999/QĐ-BGD&ĐT dated February 27, 1999, of the Minister of Education and Training as follows:
1. Students wishing to be admitted must meet the following conditions:
a) For grade 6:
- Hold a primary school graduation certificate.
- Be between 11 and 14 years old.
b) For grade 10:
- Hold a junior high school graduation certificate.
- Be between 15 and 19 years old.
c) Female students, ethnic minority students, Vietnamese students returning from abroad in the year they apply for admission, and Han students residing and studying in mountainous areas, remote regions, border areas, and islands may be one year older than the specified age.
2. All cases where the age requirement is not met shall be implemented according to the provisions of Clause 2, Article 35 of the Charter of Secondary Schools.
3. Students wishing to register for admission to specialized high schools must also meet the following additional conditions:
- The subject of specialization for which they are applying to take the exam must have an average score of 7.0 or higher for social science subjects and 8.0 or higher for natural science subjects in grade 9.
- Achieve a satisfactory or better ranking at the end of junior high school.
The Ministry entrusts the Directors of Provincial Departments of Education and Training and the Principals of universities with affiliated specialized schools to set higher conditions than those stipulated by the Ministry when necessary, but they must report to and obtain approval from the Ministry and clearly announce these conditions in the admissions regulations.
Article 2. THIS DECISION SHALL TAKE EFFECT 15 DAYS FROM THE DATE OF SIGNATURE.
Article 3. The Chairpersons of the People's Committees of provinces and centrally governed cities, the Heads of the Office of the Ministry, the Director of the High School Department, the heads of units under the Ministry of Education and Training, and the Directors of Provincial Departments of Education and Training are responsible for implementing this Decision./.
