ISSUING THE SYSTEM OF ECONOMIC SECTORS OF VIETNAM

Pursuant to the Law on Organization of the Government dated December 25, 2001;
Pursuant to the Law on Statistics dated June 26, 2003;
BASED ON THE DECREE NO. 40/2004/NĐ-CP OF DECEMBER 13, 2004 OF THE GOVERNMENT PROVIDING GUIDELINES FOR SOME PROVISIONS OF THE STATISTICS LAW;
CONSIDERING THE PROPOSAL OF THE DIRECTOR GENERAL OF THE GENERAL STATISTICS OFFICE,
DECISION:
Article 1. ATTACHED TO THIS DECISION IS THE SYSTEM OF ECONOMIC SECTORS OF VIETNAM COMPRISING FIVE LEVELS:
- LEVEL 1 SECTORS INCLUDE 21 SECTORS CODED IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER FROM A TO U;
- LEVEL 2 SECTORS INCLUDE 88 SECTORS; EACH SECTOR IS CODED WITH TWO DIGITS ACCORDING TO THE RESPECTIVE LEVEL 1 SECTOR;
- LEVEL 3 SECTORS INCLUDE 242 SECTORS; EACH SECTOR IS CODED WITH THREE DIGITS ACCORDING TO THE RESPECTIVE LEVEL 2 SECTOR;
- LEVEL 4 SECTORS INCLUDE 437 SECTORS; EACH SECTOR IS CODED WITH FOUR DIGITS ACCORDING TO THE RESPECTIVE LEVEL 3 SECTOR;
- LEVEL 5 SECTORS INCLUDE 642 SECTORS; EACH SECTOR IS CODED WITH FIVE DIGITS ACCORDING TO THE RESPECTIVE LEVEL 4 SECTOR.
Article 2. THE MINISTRY OF PLANNING AND INVESTMENT SHALL COOPERATE WITH RELATED MINISTRIES AND SECTORS:
- GUIDE RELATED MINISTRIES, AUTHORITIES, ORGANIZATIONS TO IMPLEMENT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THIS DECISION;
- MONITOR THE IMPLEMENTATION SITUATION AND SUBMIT TO THE PRIME MINISTER FOR AMENDMENTS AND SUPPLEMENTS TO THE SYSTEM OF ECONOMIC SECTORS OF VIETNAM.
Article 3. THIS DECISION SHALL TAKE EFFECT 15 DAYS AFTER ITS PUBLICATION IN THE OFFICIAL GAZETTE AND REPLACE PREVIOUS REGULATIONS ON THE NATIONAL SYSTEM OF ECONOMIC SECTORS.
Article 4. THE MINISTERS, HEADS OF GOVERNMENT-LEVEL MINISTRIES, HEADS OF GOVERNMENT-LEVEL AGENCIES, AND CHAIRMEN OF PROVINCE AND CITY PEOPLE'S COMMITTEES DIRECTLY UNDER THE CENTRAL GOVERNMENT SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ENFORCING THIS DECISION./.
