Regarding the issuance of the "Regulation on State Quality Inspection for Imported Food"
THE MINISTER OF HEALTH
Pursuant to Article 7 of Chapter II of the Law on Protecting People's Health and the Sanitation Regulations issued together with Decree No. 23/HĐBT dated January 24, 1997 of the Council of Ministers (now the Government);
Pursuant to the Government Decree No. 68/CP dated October 11, 1993 stipulating the functions, tasks, authorities, and organizational structure of the Ministry of Health;
Pursuant to Point 1, Article 4 of Decree No. 86/CP dated December 8, 1995 on the division of responsibilities for state management over product quality, assigning the Ministry of Health the responsibility for state management of food safety and hygiene;
Pursuant to Circular No. 07/TTLB dated July 1, 1996 jointly issued by the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Environment regarding guidance on implementing Decree No. 86/CP dated December 8, 1995;
With the agreement of the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Environment as stated in Document No. 127 dated February 28, 1997 and Document No. 249/TĐC-THPC dated April 12, 1997;
At the proposal of the Director of the Preventive Medicine Department - Ministry of Health;
Pursuant to …;
Article 1. Issuing along with this Decision the "Regulation on State Quality Inspection for Imported Food";
Article 2. Organizations and individuals importing food listed in the Catalogue for State Quality Inspection, issued annually at the end of the third quarter by the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Environment, must comply with the State Quality Inspection for Imported Food as prescribed in the Regulation issued under this Decision;
Article 3. The Director of the Preventive Medicine Department - Ministry of Health shall be responsible for organizing guidance and supervision of the implementation of this Decision;
Article 4. This Decision takes effect from August 1, 1997. All previous regulations that conflict with this Decision are hereby abolished;
Article 5. The Heads of the Office, Inspectorate of the Ministry, Directors of the Departments of Preventive Medicine, Planning, Finance and Accounting, and other relevant departments of the Ministry of Health, Heads of subordinate units of the Ministry, Provincial Health Directors, and Health Chiefs of centrally-administered cities are responsible for enforcing this Decision.
