DECISION OF THE PRIME MINISTER
Regarding the establishment of the State Council for Academic Titles

PRIME MINISTER
Based on the Government Organization Law dated September 30, 1992;
Pursuant to the Education Law on December 2, 1998;
Pursuant to Decree No. 20/2001/NĐ-CP dated May 17, 2001 of the Government stipulating standards, procedures for appointment and removal of professor and associate professor titles;
At the proposal of the Minister of Education and Training in the report No. 9256/TCCB dated August 30, 2001,
DECISION:
Article 1. The State Council for Academic Titles is established with specific components listed in the attached list.
Article 2. The State Council for Academic Titles shall have the following tasks:
1. Assist the Prime Minister in directing and implementing the examination, recognition, and revocation of professor and associate professor titles according to the provisions of Decree No. 20/2001/NĐ-CP dated May 17, 2001 of the Government stipulating standards and procedures for appointment and removal of professor and associate professor titles.
2. Propose policies and benefits for those recognized as professors and associate professors and for those appointed to professor and associate professor ranks.
Article 3. The term of office of the Council is five years, starting from the date of issuance of this decision.
Article 4. This Decision takes effect fifteen days after its signing. All previous regulations contrary to this Decision are abolished.
Article 5. Ministers, Heads of ministerial-level agencies, Heads of government-affiliated agencies, Chairpersons of People's Committees of provinces and centrally governed cities, and members of the State Council for Academic Titles are responsible for implementing this Decision./.
