Decree-Law No. 231/SLM Regarding the Permission to Issue Drafts in South Central Vietnam

DECREE-LAW

OF THE CHAIRMAN OF THE GOVERNMENT OF THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF VIETNAM

NUMBER 231 DATED JULY 18, 1947

THE CHAIRMAN OF THE GOVERNMENT

CONSIDERING the current situation,

AT THE REQUEST of the Minister of Finance,

AFTER CONSULTATION with the Standing Committee of the National Assembly and the Council of Ministers,

ENACTS:

Article 1

The issuance is hereby permitted in the southern part of Central Vietnam of "Credit Notes" having the value equivalent to Vietnamese banknotes as follows:

Credit Note: One dong

-: Five dongs

-: Ten dongs

-: Twenty dongs

-: Fifty dongs

-: One hundred dongs

-: Five hundred dongs

Article 2

The "Credit Notes" mentioned above shall be exchanged at par for Vietnamese banknotes.

Article 3

The total value of the "Credit Notes" issued under Article 1 of this Decree-Law shall not exceed One hundred million dongs.

Article 4

Those "Credit Notes" are permitted to circulate as Vietnamese banknotes.

Article 5

Any person who engages in actions that undermine the value of those "Credit Notes" will be prosecuted before a Military Court.

Article 6

A decree by the Southern Administrative Branch of the Government shall establish the details for implementing this Decree-Law.

Article 7

The Ministers of Finance and Interior, and the Chairman of the Central Region Administrative Committee are hereby instructed to enforce this Decree-Law.
