THE MINISTER OF EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Pursuant to Decree No. 86/2002/ND-CP dated November 5, 2002 of the Government on the functions, tasks, powers, and organizational structure of ministries and ministerial-level agencies;

Pursuant to Decree No. 85/2003/ND-CP dated July 18, 2003 of the Government on the functions, tasks, powers, and organizational structure of the Ministry of Education and Training;

Pursuant to Decree No. 75/2006/ND-CP dated August 2, 2006 of the Government detailing and guiding the implementation of certain provisions of the Education Law;

At the proposal of the Director of the Department of Testing and Quality Assurance,

Article 1. Amend and supplement Clause 3 of Article 34 of the Examination Regulation for Outstanding Students issued together with Decision No. 52/2006/QD-BGDĐT dated December 29, 2006 of the Minister of Education and Training, as follows:

"3. The ratio of awards for each subject and the minimum score for award consideration

a) The ratio of awards for each subject:

The total number of awards (from Encouragement Awards upwards) shall not exceed 60% of the number of candidates taking the examination. Among them, the total number of First, Second, and Third Prizes shall not exceed 75% of the total number of awards; the number of First Prizes shall not exceed 5% of the total number of awards.

b) The minimum score for award consideration:

- First Prize: 90% of the maximum score (according to the grading scale);

- Second Prize: 80% of the maximum score (according to the grading scale);

- Third Prize: 70% of the maximum score (according to the grading scale);

- Encouragement Award: 60% of the maximum score (according to the grading scale)."

Article 2. This Decision takes effect 15 days from the date of publication in the Official Gazette. Any previous regulations that conflict with this Decision are hereby abolished.

Article 3. The Director of the Office, the Director of the Testing and Quality Assurance Department, Heads of relevant units under the Ministry of Education and Training; Chairpersons of People's Committees of provinces and centrally governed cities; Directors of provincial Departments of Education and Training; Directors of Hanoi National University and Ho Chi Minh City National University; Principals of universities with specialized high school classes and Principals of boarding schools for ethnic minorities directly under the Ministry of Education and Training are responsible for implementing this Decision./.
