Regulations on the List of Food Types Permitted for Irradiation and Maximum Absorbed Dose Allowed for Food under the Management of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development
Pursuant to Decree No. 01/2008/NĐ-CP dated January 3, 2008 of the Government stipulating the functions, tasks, powers, and organizational structure of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and Decree No. 75/2009/NĐ-CP dated September 10, 2009 of the Government amending Article 3 of Decree No. 01/2008/NĐ-CP dated January 3, 2008;

Pursuant to the Food Safety Law No. 55/2010/QH12 adopted by the National Assembly, 12th term on June 17, 2010 and taking effect from July 1, 2011;
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development promulgates the List of Food Types Permitted for Irradiation and Maximum Absorbed Dose Allowed for Irradiated Food under its management as follows:
This Circular hereby promulgates the List of Food Types Permitted for Irradiation and Maximum Absorbed Dose Allowed for Food under the management of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Article 1. Absorbed dose
Article 2. Definitions
1. : is the ratio between de and dm, where de is the average absorbed energy imparted by ionizing radiation to the food mass (in joules) and dm is the food mass (in kilograms).Maximum allowed absorbed dose
2. : is the highest absorbed dose value permitted for each type of food permitted for irradiation. The unit of absorbed dose is Gray (Gy), 1 Gy = 1 J/kg, 1 kGy = 1000 Gy.1. This Circular shall take effect forty-five (45) days from the date of issuance.
Article 3. Effectiveness
2. This List shall be reviewed, amended, and supplemented as necessary based on management requirements. During implementation, if there are any difficulties, agencies, organizations, and individuals must promptly report them to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (through the Directorate of Quality Assurance of Agricultural Products, Forestry Products, and Fisheries) for consideration and resolution.
3. The Director of the Ministry's Office, the Director of the Directorate of Quality Assurance of Agricultural Products, Forestry Products, and Fisheries, the Heads of units under the Ministry, and related organizations and individuals are responsible for implementing this Circular.
