DECREE-LAW

No. 88 dated May 30, 1946

CHAIRMAN OF THE GOVERNMENT OF THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF VIETNAM

Pursuant to the Declaration of August 28, 1945 on the establishment of the Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam;

Pursuant to the Resolution dated November 14, 1945 by the Council of Ministers establishing the Ministry of Agriculture;

Pursuant to Decrees issued by the Ministers of Agriculture and Interior and after deliberation by the Council of Ministers;

 

ISSUES THE DECREE-LAW:

Article 1

Slaughterhouses in all provinces of Northern Vietnam must close for a period of 24 hours per week on days and at times determined by provincial and municipal administrative committees.

Article 2

On those days, the sale or display for sale of beef, buffalo meat, pork, lamb, fresh or salted products is prohibited.

Article 3

From the date this Decree-Law takes effect, provinces and cities in Northern Vietnam are permitted to slaughter a number of cattle and buffaloes per month as specified in the attached table.

Article 4

On days when slaughterhouses are open, there is no limit on the number of pigs that can be slaughtered.

Article 5

Any person violating the provisions set forth in this Decree-Law shall be fined from 100 to 5000 piastres and may have their slaughterhouse temporarily or permanently closed, or both penalties may be imposed.

Article 6

The Ministers of Agriculture and Interior are responsible for implementing this Decree-Law./.
