CIRCULAR
Guidelines for printing information on calendars

Pursuant to the Law on Publishing dated December 3, 2004 and Decree No. 111/2005/NĐ-CP dated August 26, 2005 of the Government detailing and guiding the implementation of certain provisions of the Law on Publishing;
On the basis of Decree No. 63/2003/NĐ-CP dated June 11, 2003 of the Government stipulating the functions, tasks, powers, and organizational structure of the Ministry of Culture and Information;
The Ministry of Culture and Information guides the printing of information on calendars as follows:
I. General Provisions:
1. Calendars referred to in this Circular are publishing products of publishers including: wall calendars, block calendars, pocket calendars, book calendars, desk calendars.
2. Information on calendars must be printed in Vietnamese; if both Vietnamese and ethnic minority languages of Vietnam or foreign languages with the same content are used, the ethnic minority languages or foreign languages must be smaller than Vietnamese.
3. For books containing calendars with tables for checking days, months, and years, the country that published such tables must be clearly indicated.
II. Specific Provisions:
1. Information that must be printed on calendars:
a) Gregorian date according to the National Calendar Table published by the Institute of Science and Technology of Vietnam;
b) National holidays, Sundays, and major national commemorative days shall be printed in red or presented differently from other days of the week;
c) Name of calendar type, name of publisher, name of printing facility, quantity printed, registration number of publication plan, decision number for publication by the publisher's director, retail price. For custom-ordered calendars, it must be noted as custom-ordered; for non-commercial calendars, it must be noted as not for sale; for joint publication calendars, the name and address of the joint publication partner must be noted.
2. In addition to the required information specified in Point 1 of this Section, depending on the format, nature, and purpose of use of the calendar, additional information from the National Calendar Table published by the Institute of Science and Technology of Vietnam and other information selected by the publisher may be printed.
3. Advertising on calendars must comply with the following requirements:
a) Advertising images must be consistent with Vietnamese customs and traditions; advertising of goods and services prohibited by law is not allowed;
b) For block calendars: the advertising area must not exceed 20% of the area of each calendar page; pages with national holidays and major national commemorative days cannot be used for advertising.
III. Effective Date:
1. This Circular shall take effect fifteen days after its publication in the Official Gazette.
2. Directors of publishers publishing calendars must implement the guidelines set forth in this Circular.
3. The Director of the Publishing Department, the Inspector General of the Ministry, and the Directors of Provincial Departments of Culture and Information under central cities are responsible for guiding, inspecting the implementation of this Circular, and handling violations within their authority./.
