RESOLUTION ON SHORTENING THE TERM OF THE FIFTEENTH NATIONAL ASSEMBLY SESSION AND THE TERM OF PEOPLE'S COUNCILS AT ALL LEVELS FOR THE 2021-2026 PERIOD
AND THE DATE OF ELECTION OF MEMBERS OF THE SIXTEENTH NATIONAL ASSEMBLY AND MEMBERS OF PEOPLE'S COUNCILS AT ALL LEVELS FOR THE 2026-2031 PERIOD

On the basis of the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam;
Pursuant to the Law on Organization of the National Assembly No. 57/2014/QH13 amended and supplemented by Law No. 65/2020/QH14 and Law No. 62/2025/QH15;
Pursuant to the Law on Organization of Local Administration No. 65/2025/QH15;
Pursuant to the Law on Elections of Deputies to the National Assembly and People's Councils No. 85/2015/QH13;
On the basis of considering the Report No. 1276/TTr-UBTVQH15 and the Report No. 1277/TTr-UBTVQH15 dated May 8, 2025, of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly and the opinions of National Assembly deputies,
RESOLUTION:
Article 1. SHORTENING THE TERM OF THE FIFTEENTH NATIONAL ASSEMBLY SESSION AND THE TERM OF PEOPLE'S COUNCILS AT ALL LEVELS FOR THE 2021-2026 PERIOD.
Article 2. The date of election of members of the Sixteenth National Assembly and members of People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term shall be Sunday, March 15, 2026.
The first session of the Sixteenth National Assembly shall be convened not later than 60 days from the date of the election.
The first session of the People's Councils for the 2026-2031 term shall be convened not later than 45 days from the date of the election.
Article 3. The Standing Committee of the National Assembly, the Government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, the Supreme People's Court, the Supreme People's Procuracy, the National Ethnic Council, the Committees of the National Assembly, the Delegations of the National Assembly, National Assembly deputies, People's Councils, People's Council deputies, relevant agencies and organizations within their respective functions and duties, shall be responsible for implementing this Resolution.
This Resolution was adopted by the Fifteenth National Assembly, ninth session of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on May 21, 2025.
