Amending Article 10 of the Population Ordinance

BASED ON THE CONSTITUTION OF THE SOCIALIST REPUBLIC OF VIETNAM IN 1992 AS AMENDED AND COMPLEMENTED BY RESOLUTION NO. 51/2001/QH10;
Pursuant to Resolution No. 27/2008/QH12 on the Legislative Program for 2009 and Supplementing the Legislative Program of the National Assembly during the XIIth tenure (2007-2011);
The Standing Committee of the National Assembly promulgates this Ordinance amending Article 10 of the Population Ordinance No. 06/2003/PL-UBTVQH11.
Article 1. Amends Article 10 of the Population Ordinance 2003 as follows:
"Article 10. Rights and obligations of each married couple and individual in implementing population campaigns and family planning, and reproductive health care:
1. Deciding the timing and spacing of births;
2. Having one or two children, except in special cases prescribed by the Government;
3. Protecting health, implementing preventive measures against sexually transmitted infections, including HIV/AIDS, and performing other duties related to reproductive health."
Article 2. EFFECTIVE DATE
This Ordinance takes effect from February 1, 2009./.
