RESOLUTION

Regarding the approval of the Treaty between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam

and the Kingdom of Cambodia supplementing the 1985 Border Delimitation Treaty

KHOI XI, SESSION NO. 08

OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY SOCIALIST REPUBLIC OF VIET NAM

(From October 18, 2005 to November 29, 2005)
Pursuant to Article 84 of the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam 1992 as amended and supplemented by Resolution No. 51/2001/QH10 dated December 25, 2001 of the National Assembly, Session No. 10;

Based on the proposal of the President at Report No. 03/TTr-CTN dated November 14, 2005 regarding the approval of the Treaty between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Kingdom of Cambodia supplementing the 1985 Border Delimitation Treaty;

After considering Report No. 27-NC dated November 24, 2005 of the Government, Report No. 1917/UBDT11 dated November 26, 2005 of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly, and the opinions of the National Assembly deputies;

1. Approve the Treaty between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Kingdom of Cambodia supplementing the 1985 Border Delimitation Treaty.

RESOLUTION:

2. The Socialist Republic of Vietnam affirms its determination to work with the Kingdom of Cambodia to build a peaceful, stable, friendly border, contributing to maintaining and developing the good neighborly, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term relationship between the two countries based on respect for each other's independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, non-interference in internal affairs, equality and mutual benefit, for the benefit of the people of both countries, for peace, stability, and development in the region.

3. After the President signs the decree promulgating this Resolution of the National Assembly, the Government shall promptly carry out the necessary procedures to implement this Treaty.

4. Entrust the Government to develop an overall plan and an annual plan aimed at implementing the roadmap for demarcation and marker placement; striving to complete the demarcation and marker placement work before the end of December 2008.

5. The Government directs relevant agencies at central and local levels to effectively carry out information dissemination and propaganda work to create unity in understanding and action among the people nationwide as well as compatriots abroad regarding this Treaty.

This Resolution was adopted by the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Khoi XI, Session No. 8 on November 29, 2005./.
